Stellar 2nd Grade Sweethearts: narrative writing

Yesterday I rocked my new mustard colored deep v-neck sweater to our neighborhood block party. It felt sooo good to wear skinny jeans and a sweater, drink a little cider, and sit around a bonfire. Bring on all things fall! This week we are diving into beginning of the year assessments. We have a math assessment, three writing prompts examining narrative, opinion, and information styles, and the SRI!

We are only 5 days into the school year and I need to review components of narrative writing before we dive into the assessment. Mrs. Albanese's Kindergarten Class: What a day!

I was planning to post a message last night but I went to bed EARLY!!! Yesterday started off by me taking my little guy to his pediatrician for a 9 month checkup (everything went super!) And then I went to my school to meet my new teaching partner for September (which is when I return to work too). I decided that since I will be at school for most of the day, I would laminate some things that I need for September. Everything started going well until we I left the laminator on unattended too long and burned the paper which caused it to stick to the rollers (oops!). As I was laminating, I thought I would share some cute posters that I made last month which I plan on using at the Writing Centre. (Sorry - I don't know how to turn the picture so you can properly see it!) Free Worksheets.

This set includes 26 flash cards with our lovely original illustrations in high resolution PDF format. Simple to download and print on a PC or Mac. Each page has 4 cards and the last page has a template for the wallet to keep all your alphabet flash cards together. Tips Try printing them on card stock paper as they feel nicer to handle and survive longer after repeated use. Remember to select the correct page number you wish to print, or select ‘print all’ if you’ve loaded all 7 sheets of papers ready to go! Cut them out with scissors or a craft knife and ruler (yes, they have rounded corners and you may ignore them if it’s too fiddly but we think they look better and feel friendlier to the little fingers.)

Print them as many times as you want – reprint them if they are worn out or you want to decorate your girl’s or boy’s room with them, or if you think the set will make a nice present for someone. Enjoy! Download. The Polka Dot Patch: Classroom Rules. Hey y'all!!!!!

Remember how I told you all that I don't have my own classroom because I teach half the day in one teacher's class and half the day in another teacher's class?

Well... I have had to rethink some things and adapt a little. Because I teach math (calendar included) and I didn't have the wall space for my calendar materials, I had to improvise a little. A friend gave me one of those huge science project presentation boards (covered in clear contact paper) and here is what I came up with... I will obviously be sharing all of these files with you all in the post. If you want to make your own... here are the templates. ((I bought the weather one so I can't share it with you.
