Makarones Me Kima – A Real Greek Recipe

http://www.shalimarorlanes.com/2005/03/makarones-me-kima-a-real-greek-recipe/ Today I told M to meet me at Syndagma Sq. so we can do our errands in town. The day turned out to be warm and we just toddle off around town with the direction towards Omonia, passing through the main market. I love this walk because these are the back streets in central Athens. On these streets are shops that sell but nothing but beads, further down, just boxes, ribbons and plastic bags. One street has nothing but lights, ELEKTROAGORA,(wished I have Greek fonts!).

2 tablespoons virgin olive oil 2 large cloves garlic, pushed through a press or finely minced ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 2 pounds broccoli rabe or broccoli florets ¼ cup water 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice 2 teaspoons fresh grated lemon zest ⅛ teaspoon salt ⅛ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Broccoli rabe has 6- to 9-inch stalks and scattered clusters of tiny broccoli-like buds. It has a more bitter taste than its more familiar cousin. It takes beautifully to sautéing or braising. Feel free to substitute broccoli in this recipe if you prefer.

Spaghetti and Lentil Balls with Homemade Italian Onion and Garlic Tomato Sauce | Live. Learn. Love. Eat.

Now this is what I call a Happy Friday. Luckily for my little baking ‘habit’, there is always a reason to bake. My friends have birthdays. http://ohsheglows.com/2011/01/28/no-bake-peanut-butter-chocolate-crispies-with-pb-fudge/

No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispies with PB ‘Fudge’

Earlier this summer my husband started a new job at What Cheer . One morning the What Cheer crew went into work early, I mean at the office before the birds were chirping early. I knew they were working hard and wanted to make sure they had a breakfast treat to help fuel their morning. I’m a sucker for cinnamon rolls, especially when they are homemade and fresh from the oven. I think I have the best recipe with pudding in the mix. I couldn’t whip up a batch of my cinnamon rolls to share with the What Cheer gang, because they contain gluten.

http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2012/03/raw-chocolate-pudding.html Today I am excited to have the opportunity to share with you an almost too-good-to be true dessert. A New Year’s resolution of mine was too reduce the amount of sugar I consumed, even natural and to limit myself to honey sweetened treats. I loved following Kimi’s sugar cleanse challenge and reading her post on the benefits of raw honey . As a tribute, I thought I would share a sweet treat that I have been perfecting for a little while now… raw chocolate pudding.

Blueberry-Pear Smoothie {Two Ways}:

http://www.simplyscratch.com/2011/04/blueberry-pear-smoothie-two-ways.html I have about a 4 pound bag of frozen blueberries in my freezer that my Mom and I split from our co-op late last summer. I wanted so badly to make a pie or something sweet but since there is only 21 or so days before I’m heading to North Carolina for a vacation, and then there is the potential I’m going to have to get into a bathing suit {in front of actual people}, so I’m sticking to this smoothie thing like a cheap suit! This blueberry smoothie is my favorite smoothie so far. I know it’s only the second smoothie recipe you’re seeing, but I’ve made smoothies in the past and I honestly reeeeeally liked this one! I threw in all the ingredients that I had on hand into a blender and then I literally chugged a whole glass in 2.2 seconds, if that tells you anything! And then I got brain freeze.

The Urban Poser:: RAW Carrot Cake Balls & A Giveaway Upgrade! (Vegan, RAW, Paleo, GAPS)

2 Large carrots, peeled (about 1/2 a pound) 1 large tart apple, peeled and cored 1 1/4 cups dried shredded coconut
June 7, 2010 by bronwyndeiter This waffle recipe has fast become a favorite at our house. I love it because it is a healthy soaked whole grain, gluten free*, full of protein start to the day. My husband and children love it because you would never know that it is healthy, gluten free, or full of protein; it just tastes light and delicious. 12-24 hours before: soak 1 cup organic rolled oats in 3/4 cup whey (or 1 cup yogurt if you don’t have just whey).

Hot Cocoa

Pour boiling water into a mug and let sit for about 20 seconds. Empty the water and put one tablespoon full of the virgin coconut oil in it. It melts quickly as you stir in one tablespoonful of cocoa powder and a pinch of Himalayan salt. Use a minimum of 1/4 tsp. of whole organic sugar to cut the bitterness of the cocoa and then add stevia drops to taste. Usually about 12 drops.
