Artist Simon Beck must really love the cold weather! Along the frozen lakes of Savoie, France, he spends days plodding through the snow in raquettes (snowshoes), creating these sensational patterns of snow art. Working for 5-9 hours a day, each final piece is typically the size of three soccer fields! The geometric forms range in mathematical patterns and shapes that create stunning, sometimes 3D, designs when viewed from higher levels. How long these magnificent geometric forms survive is completely dependent on the weather.

This December, in a surprisingly simple yet ridiculously amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Ar , artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color. How great is this?

The Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton offers a room which is bound to be cosier than others - as most of the items in it have been knitted from yarn. The 'do knit disturb' sign gives a clue to what lies inside. The room has a variety of knitted accessories, including a lamp, a bedspread, toothbrush and paste along with a telephone cover and matching curtains.
