Artist Pierre Fouché must be a very patient guy. For some of his lace works he needs several years to complete them. The artist is based in Cape Town and has creates portraits as well as human figures through the use of bobbin lace harnessed in threads of polyester. Working like Fouché does is quite intricate and requires immeasurable skills. All images © Pierre Fouché | Via: Design You Trust. Shape Type, the letter shaping game. Des pliages de billets.

WALISZEWSKA. The City of Samba. Man Walks All Day to Create Spectacular Snow Patterns. Artist Simon Beck must really love the cold weather! Along the frozen lakes of Savoie, France, he spends days plodding through the snow in raquettes (snowshoes), creating these sensational patterns of snow art. Working for 5-9 hours a day, each final piece is typically the size of three soccer fields! The geometric forms range in mathematical patterns and shapes that create stunning, sometimes 3D, designs when viewed from higher levels.

How long these magnificent geometric forms survive is completely dependent on the weather. Beck designs and redesigns the patterns as new snow falls, sometimes unable to finish a piece due to significant overnight accumulations. Interestingly enough, he said, 'The main reason for making them was because I can no longer run properly due to problems with my feet, so plodding about on level snow is the least painful way of getting exercise. Update: Simon Beck was named our #1 breakthrough artist in 2012.

Cai Guo-Qiang. Esta web no es seria. New Recycled Skateboard Deck Sculptures by Haroshi. DailyDuJour has the first coverage I’ve seen of five new works by Japanese artist Haroshi who uses layered and pixelated pieces from reclaimed skateboard decks. Via his website: Haroshi makes his art pieces recycling old used skateboards. His creations are born through styles such as wooden mosaic, dots, and pixels; where each element, either cut out in different shapes or kept in their original form, are connected in different styles, and shaven into the form of the final art piece.

Haroshi became infatuated with skateboarding in his early teens, and is still a passionate skater at present. These new pieces were on display last night as part of an exhibition at a distribution center for streetwear manufacturer HUF in L.A., and you can see much more over on dailyDuJour and Haroshi’s Facebook page. Réactions en chaîne. This is What Happens When You Give Thousands of Stickers to Kids. This December, in a surprisingly simple yet ridiculously amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Ar, artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas.

Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color. How great is this? Given the opportunity my son could probably cover the entire piano alone in about fifteen minutes. The installation, entitled The Obliteration Room, is part of Kusama’s Look Now, See Forever exhibition that runs through March 12. If you liked this you’ll also enjoy Roman Ondak’s Room of Heights and Karina Smigla-Bobinski’s helium-filled kinetic drawing sculpture.

RON van der ENDE. Tricot. Knit the 2012 Olympics With Ingenious Craft Book Knitlympics Anova books/Promo image Don't have a ticket to London's 2012 Olympics? No problem, knit your own. A delightful little knitting book, Knitlympics, has patterns for your own private Olympics: the coveted ticket, podium, winning medals, Olympic torch and the laurel wreath. Oh yes, and the athletes too. Twenty top Olympians over the years are yours for the making... Forget about graffiti knitting, whether you’re a fan of athletics, swimming or gymnastics there is a project for you, not the street. Needles poised and you too can have anyone from Mark Spitz (7 gold medals in 1972) with a moustache to Jesse Owens to Carl Lewis to lightening-speed runner Usain Bolt sitting in your room, ready to join you in front of the TV.

Holding up the women's end of the Games, there is Florence Griffith-Joyner, Flo-Jo to those old enough to remember (1984 Games), Olga Korbut, the gymnast, also an old-timer from 1976, but forever young in wool. How close are the knitted ones to the real thing? The knitted hotel room where guests can cosy up in style.

By Daily Mail Reporter Updated: 15:09 GMT, 30 November 2011 It's clean, comfy and comes with all the mod-cons. But there's something distinctly woolly about this hotel room. The Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton offers a room which is bound to be cosier than others - as most of the items in it have been knitted from yarn. The 'do knit disturb' sign gives a clue to what lies inside. The room has a variety of knitted accessories, including a lamp, a bedspread, toothbrush and paste along with a telephone cover and matching curtains.

Need a loom for the night? Artist Kate Jenkins spent two weeks knitting the room's accessories... cleaning it might be a bit of a headache though Thread and breakfast: First came plastic fruit and now... a woollen morning meal Not content with sticking to traditional soft furnishings, the room even has its very own woven full English breakfast - but diners might have a hard time digesting this particular fry-up.
