Ethical Decision Making in Obstetrics and Gynecology. ABSTRACT: Physicians vary widely in their familiarity with ethical theories and methods and their sensitivity toward ethical issues.

Ethical Decision Making in Obstetrics and Gynecology

It is important for physicians to improve their skills in addressing ethical questions. Obstetrician–gynecologists who are familiar with the concepts of medical ethics will be better able to approach complex ethical situations in a clear and structured way. “Post-accident Right Eye Orbital Fracture with Surgical Reconstruction” Medical Exhibit, Human Anatomy Drawing, Anatomy Illustration. Labor&Delivery. Medical Records Copying Charges: State Statutes: Law Offices of Thomas J. Lamb, P.A. Medical Records Copying Charges This web page lists the various state statutes that control the amount of money doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers can charge a patient for copies of their medical records, as well as records provided to the patient's attorney or law firm for use in personal injury cases.

Note that under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) a covered entity can only charge "reasonable" cost-based fees for providing the medical records to patients. See 45 CFR 164.524(c). Arguably, fees that are not cost-based, even if permitted by a state statute, may be contrary to the HIPAA regulation and therefore preempted by this federal regulation. We update this page when we learn of new statutes, or revisions to statutes already posted; as such, there is no regular time point at which we do this. If you are aware of additional statutes which should be posted on this web page, please send the following to Tom Lamb: Alabama Alaska Arizona Florida.

Dickman, M.D., and Gregory P. Lekovic, M.D., Ph.D., J.D. The goal of surgery for stabilization of the craniovertebral junction (CVJ) is to restore biomechanical stability with minimal compromise of physiological range of motion. The CVJ, comprising the basiocciput, atlas, and axis, is highly mobile, contributing to more than half of spinal axial rotation and making major contributions to flexion-extension, particularly at C1-2 and C0-1, respectively. Biomechanically, motion at any given vertebral segment can be fully described by angular movements around three orthogonal axes in addition to linear displacements along the same axes. This range of motion is divided into neutral and elastic zones. Any given bending movement of one vertebral body on another can be described by its instantaneous axis of rotation (Fig. 25.1B).
