CoCorico ! French Culture & Voyage en France

http://www.umass.edu/arthist/masks/masks.html These mythological masks were made for Professor Laetitia La Follette's spring semester AH500 Greek Art History course in 1995 (grey background), 1996 (white background), and 1997 (black background). They are displayed with the KORE at the top to stress the Greek ideal of balancing human emotions with the life of the mind. The GORGONS, SATYRS, and CYCLOPS are creatures of the imagination, and represent the emotions that strongly affect us, such as fear, lust, and anger. DIONYSOS and the BUTTERFLY are symbols of human transformation into altered states of conciousness, such as passion and death.

Photo by Mark Wilson/Getty Images A meal shared by Pilgrims and Native Americans might get most of the credit for the creation of Thanksgiving, but it was President Abraham Lincoln who officially proclaimed the last Thursday in November a holiday in 1864. 147 years later, a number of odd presidential traditions have grown around the customary feast and semi-regular troop visits. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/2011/11/from-lincoln-to-obama-thanksgiving-at-the-white-house.html

Located at Pedro Meyer's former house, in the center of Coyoacan in Mexico City, FPM (Pedro Meyer Foundation) has, as a main mission, contributing to careful consideration, interpretation and research of photographic images inside new technologies' framework. By specific initiatives on areas that contemplate conservation, production, training and divulgation of photographic art -meaning, those art forms related to it which include movie making, video and multimedia disciplines whose central point is photography- we promote professional and cultural enrichment of these art form communities and society's in general.
