The end of December marks the end of spring and beginning of summer along the coast of East Antarctica. The Sun shines most (if not all) of the time, yet ice still dominates the land and sea. That ice, however, is far from uniform. Varied forms of ice appear in these images from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Aqua satellite and the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) on NASA's Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) satellite. These natural-color images both show parts of the Mawson Coast, where an Australian-led research station is located. The MODIS image (from December 16, 2011) offers a wide-area view and the ALI image (December 30) gives a close-up centered around the research station.

Xalapa, Veracruz | Domingo 28 de agosto de 2011 Édgar Ávila Pérez / Corresponsal | El Universal 10:32 Dos cibernautas fueron consignados ante un juez como probables responsables de los delitos de terrorismo y sabotaje, pues son señalados por el Gobierno de Veracruz de generar rumores falsos en las redes sociales que provocaron temor el pasado miércoles en las ciudades de Veracruz y Boca del Río . El Ministerio Público consideró tener suficientes pruebas contras los dos cibernautas, entre ellos una ex funcionaria del anterior gobierno, por lo que decidió consignarlos ante un juez, quien decidirá si son culpables o inocentes. Las dos personas son señalas de haber iniciado rumores el pasado miércoles sobre presuntos ataques del narcotráfico en contra de escuelas públicas de la zona turística de Veracruz y Boca del Río.

The paradox is that American Hispanics are longer-lived than non-Hispanic whites, despite the relatively lower socioeconomic status of Hispanics (poorer, less educated).
