“La Gabbia” (The Cage) by auroraMeccanica - Releasing the untangible.. #Processing

At the center of a darkened room, a birdcage hanging from the ceiling it’s lit only by the white beam of the projector and its on the wall. Uncover the bird’s presence through playing a game, a very simple game in which we just have to push the cage and shake it. Our intuition and prior experiences, suddenly lead us into the a sort of awareness. The cage reminds of it’s physical presence as well, but the space inside it’s empty. Our transposed image, identified in our shadow, creates a connection with the oneiric part of our being; the cage becomes the portal to access the world of untangible projections and spiritual knowledge. Hardware includes one projector, a physical cage, iMac Core 2 Duo and Nintendo Wii Controller. Project Page See also Karolina Sobecka’s wonderful Bird Play.

MissionControl - A Flexible API for Remote Device Control In a race to optimize everything, developers often go to extremes to build software that performs routine tasks. MissionControl is a system that allows users to program a control center that stores interfaces with attached hardware sensors, allowing the users to control any other devices that can be activated via the underlying protocol.

For demo purposes, the MissionControl build at this point is compatible with the Phidgets IR hybrid sensor. Research FUSE Labs - Kodu Game Lab

(Click to play) Kodu lets kids create games on the PC and Xbox via a simple visual programming language. Kodu can be used to teach creativity, problem solving, storytelling, as well as programming. Anyone can use Kodu to make a game, young children as well as adults with no design or programming skills. Since Kodu's introduction in 2009, we have visited the White House, teamed up with great groups like NCWIT and DigiGirlz, inspired academic research and been the subject of a book (Kodu for Kids).

simple-openni - A simple OpenNI wrapper for processing.

Therefore not all functions of OpenNI are supported, it's meant more to deliver a simple access to the functionality of this library. For a detailed list of changes see the ChangeLog Version 1.96 Support for Win32/64, OSX32/64, Linux64 Installation is now much simpler --- OpenNI2 --- Version 0.26 Added the autocalibration, now you can only enter the scene and get the skeleton data without the psi pose Updated the examples to enable auto-calibration (User, User3d) Unified the SimpleOpenNI distribution library, from now there is only one library distribution for OSX,Windows and Linux. Had to make this change because of the Processing 2.0 autoinstaller. SimpleOpenNI tries on windows/linux to find automatically the valid architecture(32bit/64bit), depending on java machine you use.

Generative Art (AbandonedArt.org) Node Garden. The graphic rendering of the node garden is a five step process: First the substrate paths are drawn (light grey and curvy).

Node Garden

Substrate paths instantiate nodes as they grow, but the rendering of the nodes is postponed until all paths have been drawn. Next the nodes are back painted. Back painting includes a solid black circle for the node itself, plus a bit of dark glow to give the illusion the node is embedded in the surface. This process uses the DARKEST image blending mode of Processing so that the white square of the source image does not overdraw the substrate paths. Node connections are then drawn as faint lines, darker nearer the endpoints. Next the nodes are painted black once again. Finally, a specular reflection is painted over each node. Raspberry Pi.
