Alicia’s Awesome Crab Rangoon. I invented this recipe many years ago… when I was in high school. I loved eating crab rangoon at Asian restaurants, and of course there were none of those in my hometown of under 1,000. Like a lot of recipes I come up with, this one was invented out of necessity. And it was awesome . Thus, I christened it: Alicia’s Awesome Crab Rangoon. I’ve matured (slightly) since then, so I considered re-naming them, but the fact of the matter remains… they’re still awesome. I’ve only tweaked it a little here and there, and it just gets better every time. Since the crab in the filling is already cooked, I’ve even made the filling and served it as crab dip. You can also make these ahead of time and freeze them uncooked. Here’s the details… And here’s the recipe… Alicia’s Awesome Crab Rangoon Mix together all ingredients except wontons.

Makes about 30 rangoon, or 2 cups of filling. Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno Chicken Bites. 610K+Add bacon to anything and it will fly off the table. That’s what a caterer once told me and I believe it. Certainly applies here. Whether you’re planning a cookout this weekend or cooking indoors (rain predicted here in Texas), grill up a few of these sizzling treats for a quick appetizer or serve as an entree. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than with a big plate of these spicy and cheesy, smoky and crispy chicken nuggets. If you don’t like hot, leave out the jalapenos or skimp a bit.

I definitely prefer fresh jalapenos over the canned or pickled ones traditionally used with nachos. Brazilian Lemonade. This is my most favorite drink. Ever. Maybe I’d feel differently if I drank (as in alcohol), but there is nothing I love more than a warm, breezy afternoon and a pitcher of Brazilian lemonade. I didn’t try it for a long, long time because I was very put off by putting sweetened condensed milk in with citrus fruit. It seemed very wrong. It starts off with fresh, juicy limes. You pop them in a blender with some sugar water and pulse just a few times. Pour the mixture from the blender through a strainer and into a pitcher, thus saving all of the flavorful liquid. Then the secret ingredient: sweetened condensed milk. Brazilian LemonadeOur Best Bites Ingredients: 4 juicy limes (try and find ones with thin, smooth skins; they’re the juiciest and the thin skin cuts down on the chance of your drink being bitter) 1 c. sugar 6 c. cold water 6 Tbsp. sweetened condensed milk Instructions: Mix cold water and sugar very well and chill until ready to use.

Place 1/2 of the limes in your blender. Idiot proof way to poaching eggs. | NARCISSISM IS NECESSARY. How to poach an egg: Boil water, add some vinegar, stir water to create a whirpool-like effect, crack an egg into the eye of the “whirpool” and voila……poached eggs! Easy peasy right? Nope. Not even close. Poaching eggs is one of the single most difficult and frustrating things I’ve ever done in the kitchen. My eggs always disintegrate in the water. They say you should use the freshest eggs but hello I don’t live on a farm and I don’t always want to eat poached eggs immediately after buying new eggs.

So imagine how happy I was, when I managed to catch an episode of Master Chef Australia which taught the contestants how to poach an egg in a way entirely different from what I’ve read or watched before. All you need are: Clingwrap filmEggsOil # – First, tear out a clingwrap film about 25 cm by 25 cm for one egg. . # – Lay the film over a small bowl or in my case, a muffin tray. . # – Now crack an egg into the hole. # – Gather all the excess cling film and twist. # – Then tie a knot, like this. ‘Super Evil’ Bacon Meatballs | Evil Shenanigans - Baking & Cooking Blog. Better Than Takeout Orange Chicken. Yesterday as I stood in the kitchen trying to figure out what to make for dinner I wondered to myself, how do those people do it on those shows where they are given random ingredients and are suppose come up with something genius. I think I stood there for a solid 20 minutes looking in the cupboards and staring into the freezer hoping that I would be struck by some ingenious idea. I shun away from chain restaurants—Cheesecake Factory, nah; The Olive Garden, meh; Denny’s, are you kidding me?! I avoid going to franchise or chain restaurants at all cost, well, unless I am starving or stuck in the middle of nowhere and the only restaurant in town is Applebee’s. However, I have to admit that there is an exception. Yep, you heard it right—those fluffy-cheesy-buttery-garlicky-fresh-off-the-oven world famous Red Lobster biscuits.

Ever since I made my daughter strawberry pop tarts last month she’s been asking for them every morning. To have some fun I’ve been switching up fillings, using apricot jam, blueberry jam and grape jam. Then, last week, I took it over the top and filled them with nutella. Yes, nutella. I mean, nutella always seems to be the next step after peanut butter and jam anyway, right? I got the idea for these when I read that my friend Megan sells Nutella PopTarts at her bakery stand at the farmer’s market in San Francisco. Her recipe is top secret and, I’m sure, far more gourmet than this one. So, for those of us who can’t make it out there, here is a great one to try. With term papers looming and the dining hall already closed for the night, food had to come from somewhere. That was the night I learned to make ramen in my coffee maker. At first I was nervous, pouring the hot water over noodles in my bowl, covering them, and letting it steep.

Eventually, I became more adventurous: cooking the noodles in the carafe; putting the seasoning packet in the basket that normally holds the filter; adding an egg. This was cheap food prepared in as cheap a manner as possible. 1. Put two packets of instant oatmeal into the carafe. A dead simple recipe, but with the twist of adding a tea bag for flavor. 2.
