ol Treehouses from around the World

Since the mid 90's, recreational tree houses have enjoyed a rise in popularity in countries such as the United States and parts of Europe. This has been due to increased disposable income, better technology for builders, research into safe building practices and an increased interest in environmental issues, particularly sustainable living. Did you want to live in a tree house when you were children growing up? What better way to sleep than directly under the branches of a protective tree gazing up at the stars above. And, while some tree houses are minimalist by their very small nature, today’s tree house architects have gone beyond small stature to include tree houses fit for hotel rooms, lodges and restaurants. Some treehouses certailnly look more strucutally safer than others! This follow cool treehouse is the amazing Yellow Treehouse Restaurant in Auckland, New Zealand. Chema Pastrana on Behance.

Both sound very helpful of course, but wouldn’t those require you to to write some code? Yes – but according to Kilkelly this should be a tool available in every architect’s toolkit. Stash Cash in the Door? A Couple Leaves their Jobs to Build a House of Windows in the Mountains of West Virginia. For their very first date, photographer Nick Olson took designer Lilah Horwitz on a walk in the mountains of West Virginia. While chatting and getting to know each other during a particularly scenic sunset the two jokingly wondered what it would be like to live in a house where the entire facade was windows, so the sunset would never be contained within a small space.

Where most people would file the idea away as a dream or maybe an item at the bottom of a bucket list, the newly minted couple were a bit more aggressive. Less than a year later the two quit their jobs and embarked on a road trip starting in Pennsylvania to collect dozens of windows from garage sales and antique dealers. A few weeks later they arrived in West Virginia and built the glass cabin in the exact same spot where they envisioned it on their fist date.

Knowing those standard measurements before you buy or begin to arrange furniture can cut the task down to size. Knowing approximate measurements for a piece can help you start designing your layout for any given room. Although one sofa may look very different from another sofa because of style, color, or upholstery fabric, you may be surprised to know that most sofas share the same approximate measurements. This applies to other pieces of furniture as well. When you have an idea of roughly how big a piece is, you can plan how many pieces to fit in the room, and how to place them so you have a room that flows efficiently.

Remember, though that these measurements are meant to be a general guideline only. StylishHome. 6 Free Online Room Design Tools. Homes - Design. Archetypes: Find Your Archetype & Discover Yourself.
