StumbleUpon’s New Front End Approach

They recently launched an immense user-end overhaul that changed pretty much everything about their site. Though they have just recently removed themes, groups, and blogs from their site, the new changes seem focused on directing users away from the site and back to using their toolbar, whether they have the iFrame or installed versions. Direct Link Removal One move that seems to have surprised many in the industry is the removal of all the direct links that point to content sources from within Stumbleupon. Now there is a single button for ‘Stumble This’ that when clicked transfers the user to an iframed version of the chosen content. This reason behind the controversy is that now that all content from the site is iframed, once logged into the StumbleUpon system, there is no way to remove the toolbar, always leaving you in the iframed version of their site. Vine Quietly Adds Verified Badges for High-Profile Users

Case in point: There's an account with the username Vine. Who is it? Hard to tell—maybe it's run by the company; maybe it's an unknown, opportunistic individual. Duplicate usernames and easily faked profiles mean it's difficult to ascertain the legitimacy of high-profile Viners (if that's what we're calling them). Super Bowl Ads 2012. Gary Vaynerchuk Talks Geolocation and Answers Your Questions

Gary and his consulting company VaynerMedia recently ran an experiment with the NBA's New Jersey Nets and geolocation app Gowalla (in which Gary is an investor) to see if location services could draw fans to games with free tickets. For all parties involved, the experiment was deemed a success, and the findings from it have provided a unique insight into the future possibilities for geolocationtional advertising. As you may recall, last Friday during the ReadWriteWeb Mobile Summit, we discussed the potential road-blocks for startups looking to innovate in the localized mobile ad space. By using an existing network like Gowalla, however, the Nets experiment actually succeeded to bring in a significant amount of people to a game where thousands of seats went unsold. What is Gink? Well, it's simple, really: "Gink is a fun made-up word, combining the words gibble and spink, both of which are also made up.
