Animoto Classroom Blog Video Tips. Use a Google Docs Spreadsheet to Send Text Message Alerts to Students. SMS or cell phone text messaging alerts can be extremely handy. Research shows most people read text message alerts almost immediately, and when students have an unlimited text messaging plan no additional costs are incurred by them to receive SMS updates. The last three semesters I’ve used the lowest commercial version of TextMarks to send periodic text message updates to my preservice education students. This year, I’m helping our school debate team as a parent volunteer and wanted a free way to send text message alerts to team members. Last week I collected, from students who chose to opt-in to these alerts, their name, phone number, and cellular carrier. The cellular carrier is important because each wireless phone company uses a different email address domain to enable sending text messages using email. I learned about this a few years ago as a participant in the “Film on the Fly” cell phone videography contests.

The next step was sending the email message. iMenuPro · Modern Online Menu Maker for instant professional menu designs and menu printing. Sign up for Padlet. Animoto for Education.

Here are three ways we have started using QR codes at our school to connect school and home. 1. QR Codes in School Newsletters Every year, we survey our families to find out how they prefer for our school to communicate with them. Combing through the basic functions and features of a list of tools I’ve become aware of, to select some for further testing. Over the course of the week, the list of Screencasting tools that have been recommended to me, or that I’ve otherwise learned of, has grown to a dozen. I have a goal of trying identify a free tool or set of tools to use to create stand alone tutorials by combining screen images and screen motion with audio. I would also like to have some editing capabilities, so I could combine multiple captures and rearrange the order of these pieces if needed, and to be able to re-record audio annotation if possible.

I would also like to have screen annotation capabilities, at least for the screen captures. Given this set of desired functions and features, and the long list of tools, it’s only logical that I briefly review each application to see what they can do.
