A huge icy space rock, comet ‘Atlas’, is currently in the constellation Ursa Major in the northern sky passing through the orbit of Mars, but it’s on a trajectory with our Sun and it will get progressively brighter as it reaches its closest point at the end of May, if it doesn't fragment that is.

Ancient Comet ‘Atlas’ Measures Half the Size of the Sun and it’s Back!

The comet’s last Earth fly-by was sometime around 4000 BC when it was witnessed by early ancient Egyptian farmers as well as Neolithic tribes in Ireland, northern Scotland and across Scandinavia, but this most recent pass was first spotted on December 28, 2019 by Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System ( ATLAS). The comet’s atmosphere measures five times the physical size of Jupiter and about half the size of the Sun and scientists say that by the end of April the space rock will appear brighter than Venus in our night sky. NASA Saw Something Come Out Of A Black Hole For The First Time Ever. You don’t have to know a whole lot about science to know that black holes normally suck things in, not spew things out.

NASA Saw Something Come Out Of A Black Hole For The First Time Ever

But NASA detected something mighty bizarre at the supermassive black hole Markarian 335. Two of NASA’s space telescopes, including the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR), amazingly observed a black hole’s corona “launched” away from the supermassive black hole. Then an enormous pulse of X-ray energy spewed out. This kind of phenomena has never been observed before. Astronomers Find A Massive "Cosmic Fingerprint" There is a mysterious universe out there.

Astronomers Find A Massive "Cosmic Fingerprint"

Proof of that is the countless discoveries that have been made in the past years. With each discovery, it seems we only learn how little we know about the cosmos. Now, a recent image shared by the European Space Agency has revealed a stunning new cosmic feature: A kind of massive cosmic fingerprint. Thanks to ESA’s Gaia mission, which has managed to document a collection of more than 1.7 Billion stares in the Milky Way, the European Space Agency’s Mission has spotted something extraordinary by observing the Large Magellanic Cloud, or the LMC.

Is the Universe Conscious? This timeline shows the entire history of the Universe, and where it's headed. Chandra Telescope Shows Invisible Universe: All Stars Are Connected. When Galileo first used a small telescope to prove that the earth was part of a vast collection of heavenly bodies, we could begin to understand our connection to the Universe – to see that we are part of a vast wholeness.

Chandra Telescope Shows Invisible Universe: All Stars Are Connected

The Chandra telescope shows something even more incredible. Looking through it, we see that stars are not separate entities shining in the night sky, but a collection of energy, ebbing and flowing, in a vast union, like the roots of a massive, interconnected forest – ONE organism. The Chandra telescope looks deep into the night sky, but with a different lens than most normal telescopes. Chandra is built to detect energy. Specifically, it detects X-ray (electromagnetic radiation) emissions from super-hot regions of the Universe, such as exploded stars, clusters of galaxies, and matter around black holes.

Still think we are alone in the universe? These 20 images will make you change your mind. The idea that we are not the only lifeforms in the universe has captured the imagination and interest of not only scientists but philosophers, historians and even archaeologists.

Still think we are alone in the universe? These 20 images will make you change your mind

Many people would agree with me that to even think we are the only living species in the universe is totally absurd. The universe is SO big, that it’s hard to put it into perspective. Now imagine if there isn’t ONE universe but that there are more universes as scientists have speculated in recent years. EARTH & It's official: Researchers have discovered a second Earth.

Researchers have confirmed the existence of a SECOND Earth located in the Proxima Centauri System.

It's official: Researchers have discovered a second Earth

The planet is believed to have oceans just like Earth and may hay host alien life. In the past, thousands of exoplanets have been discovered in the universe, but none of them is like Proxima B. Proxima b, as has been baptized, has very ‘promising characteristics’: it is probably rocky, slightly more massive than our own planet and is located in the region around its star that would allow liquid water on its surface to exist.

Surprise Finding About Moon Puts Hunt for Alien Life in New Light. Get the Mach newsletter.

Surprise Finding About Moon Puts Hunt for Alien Life in New Light

The moon's magnetic field lasted at least 1 billion years longer than previously thought, a new study finds. This suggests that alien moons and planets may also have magnetic fields that can survive for a long time and potentially help shelter extraterrestrial life. The moon today does not possess a global magnetic field. However, prior analyses of moon rocks retrieved by the Apollo astronauts suggested that, between 3.56 billion and 4.25 billion years ago, the moon's magnetic field once ranged in strength from 20 to 110 microtesla.

In comparison, Earth's magnetic field is 50 microtesla strong. Previous research also suggested that the moon's magnetic field had declined in intensity to less than 4 microtesla by 3.19 billion years ago. Related. You have to admit that there is a special—yet strange—feeling when you have the opportunity to look at our planet from the perspective of astronauts in space. An overwhelming feeling takes over after seeing how beautiful our world is from space at night. These views show Earth as it really is a naked planet, stripped from religion, borders, and conflicts. The entire planet is seen as one, and we finally see that we are as one.

Did CERN Shift Us Into A Parallel Universe? This Child Genius's Shocking New Theory. The scale of the universe is staggering: From even the perspective of the astronauts, the rest of humanity seems to be just a speck on the globe. Zooming further and further out, the scale becomes even more astounding, until even the Earth is a mere pin-prick amongst the immensity of the cosmos. Stephen Hawking has said: “Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Mindboggling video shows how post-colonization life of the Solar System would be like.

The mind-boggling video, made by digital artist Erik Wernquist is a vision of humanity’s expansion into the Solar System, based on scientific ideas and concepts of what our future in space might look like if it ever happens. The locations depicted in the film are digital recreations of actual places in the Solar System, built from real photos and map data where available. If the present state of the Earth, or rather that of the human civilization that inhabits it makes you want to escape to another world, you ought to know that the most brilliant minds on the planet are currently advocating and working hard on figuring out how to do it. Stephen Hawking has said that if we want to survive as a species, the only alternative is to find a way to conquer other planets, expanding the limits of the human race. Professor Stephen Hawking believes that at the rate the human race is advancing, we could DESTROY ourselves within the next 100 years.

Is the Universe Conscious? Earth - Why there might be many more universes besides our own. Is our Universe one of many? The idea of parallel universes, once consigned to science fiction, is now becoming respectable among scientists – at least, among physicists, who have a tendency to push ideas to the limits of what is conceivable. In fact there are almost too many other potential universes. Earth - We might live in a computer program, but it may not matter. Are you real? What about me? These used to be questions that only philosophers worried about. Scientists just got on with figuring out how the world is, and why.

But some of the current best guesses about how the world is seem to leave the question hanging over science too. Several physicists, cosmologists and technologists are now happy to entertain the idea that we are all living inside a gigantic computer simulation, experiencing a Matrix-style virtual world that we mistakenly think is real. Our instincts rebel, of course.
