Over the past 60 years, we have brought together ideas, knowledge and experience to maximise the impact of culture across wider Europe, both through our activities and through our grants programmes. Our goal is to support and bring new ideas and inspired visions to diverse audiences across different countries in Europe and beyond. The 2013 call for Collaboration Grants was aligned with our strategic focus for the next four years – Connecting Culture, Communities and Democracy. We supported projects (12 collaboration grants from Greece to Latvia) that – by working transnationally and cross-sectorally – present a fresh and more sustainable picture of Europe.
Between now and 2016, we will work through a networked approach, aiming to connect local cultural change-makers, raising awareness of their creative potential to generate new social, environmental, economic and democratic models through their cultural practices. London Mayor Boris Johnson with Susan Whiteley and Yves Carcelle at the Louis Vuitton Young Arts Project launch at the Royal Academy of Arts Louis Vuitton has just announced the launch of the Louis Vuitton Young Arts Project, an unprecedented partnership between Louis Vuitton and five of London’s leading art institutions: Hayward Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts, South London Gallery, Tate Britain and Whitechapel Gallery.
The Louis Vuitton Young Arts Project embodies the brand’s creative spirit and its long tradition of arts patronage, as well as its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and to London. This three year arts and education programme will give young Londoners from across the city unique access to the museum directors and curators, artists and collectors who shape the British contemporary art scene, which is widely acknowledged as one of the most dynamic and successful in the world.
