I've created this site because so many of the Macintosh users that I have encountered have expressed frustration that they don't know what to do, or what to use, for performing routine maintenance on their Macintosh running OS X. There is also a huge amount of misinformation going around on the subject. Even Apple has contributed to the confusion with conflicting tech notes on their Web site.

Source code to Xara Xtreme was released in March 2006 at the inaugural Libre Graphics Meeting in Lyon, France. That release was tagged 0.3; subsequent releases followed in the coming months, the most recent of which was 0.7 in August of 2006. Xara and the volunteer developer community disagreed from almost the very beginning about a crucial issue: the company's decision to keep the application's core rendering library CDraw closed source. The developers said time and time again that a half-open, half-closed application was a dealbreaker. Xara refused to listen, insisting that the code it had made available should be good enough, and that by not contributing its time, the developer community was not upholding its end of the bargain.
The tools here are some other utilities for data transfer etc. There is usually no encryption or compression or anything. The tools are developed under Linux with ESR 's paradigm release early, release often in mind. So you can consider this beta software, or alpha, or pre-alpha, or even worse ;)
Robocopy is an advanced copy utility with has the feature to automatically resume file transfer on error or network disruption, or recover from terminated file copying, plus selective copying based on new or updated criteria. Beside, Robocopy also can preserve all of the file properties and information, including date and time stamps, security access control lists (ACLs) and more while replicating the file. Robocopy is definitely a more useful utility, especially for advanced users. However, Robocopy came built-in in Windows Vista with command line interface only. To ease the task of using Robocopy, a GUI (graphical user interface) has been made available by Microsoft.
CDImage is a popular CD-ROM and DVD-ROM image management tool and premastering utility. Although its functionality is dwarfed by modern advanced disc image manipulation software such as MagicISO, PowerISO and UltraISO, however CDImage is still a powerful application to create a N in 1 optical disk. CDImage is a command line utility. A frontend graphical user interface has been created for CDImage, expectedly named as CMImage GUI or CDImageGUI, so that users can select all options and configure the settings they want without the need to remember and type the long commands. CDImage GUI comes with built-in CDImage version 2.47, so it’s not necessary to download the CDImage separately. If you need standalone command line edition of CDImage, download from here .

by James Avery , Jim Holmes 01/19/2007 In our just-published book, Windows Developer Power Tools , we make the case that developers who limit their toolset to Microsofts Visual Studio (and the other tools your employer provides for you), are missing out on scores of incredibly useful, freely available tools. That such freeware and open source software (FOSS) exists at all is a complete mystery to some software developers.
