Loslassen, was dich blockiert. Was dir und deinem Glück im Weg steht. Was dich daran hindert, weiterzukommen.

The Least Known Secret of Success. Popular Today in Business: All Popular Articles Daydreaming is the least understood brain activity and yet it’s the most powerful source of success, according to research psychologists in the US, Europe, China and Japan. This cross-cultural finding that creativity and productivity blossom from daydreaming is especially interesting, because it is almost universally discouraged. For most of us, the priority at school and work is learning to focus our attention on tasks at hand, including school work, skill building and getting things done. With that emphasis, it’s easy to see why real success, creative solutions and innovation have come from a relatively small number of individuals who naturally go against the grain, or simply won’t follow the rules. It’s the daydreamers who naturally put together unusual bits of information, fantasy and inspired personal life goals.

The Neuroscience of Focus: Taking Back Control of Our Brains. But are people accurate in their predictions about the benefits of having money? A new study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology highlights that people are often mistaken in how spending our money might benefit our lives.

People are prone to forecasting errors – that is, they mistakenly predict future events to be better or worse than they actually turn out to be. To better understand the causes of male infertility, a team of Bay Area researchers is exploring the factors, both physiological and biochemical, that differentiate fertile sperm from infertile sperm.

At the 58th Annual Biophysical Society Meeting, which takes place Feb. 15-19, 2014, in San Francisco, Calif., the team will present its work to identify and characterize proteins known as ion channels, which are crucial for sperm fertility and expressed within a sperm cell's plasma membrane. "Any knowledge gained in this area may help create much-needed diagnostic testing and treatments for male infertility, which is in essence an idiopathic disease, because at this time 80 percent of male infertility cases can't be diagnosed or treated," said Melissa Miller, a postdoctoral fellow who will present the team's findings at the meeting. To study ion channels, the researchers are recording the electrical activity of sperm ion channels under strictly controlled conditions.
