The International Sun/Earth Explorer 3 (ISEE-3) was a joint US and European spacecraft launched in 1978. It was initially deployed to the L1 Lagrange point, a spot between the sun and Earth where the combined gravitational forces of the two massive objects effectively holds smaller objects in place. Dramatic new portrait helps define Milky Way's shape, contents. Using more than 2 million images collected by NASA's orbiting Spitzer Space Telescope, a team of Wisconsin scientists has stitched together a dramatic 360 degree portrait of the Milky Way, providing new details of our galaxy's structure and contents.

The new composite picture, using infrared images gathered over the last decade, was unveiled today (March 20, 2014) at a TED conference in Vancouver. The galactic portrait provides an unprecedented look at the plane of our galaxy, using the infrared imagers aboard Spitzer to cut through the interstellar dust that obscures the view in visible light. X-rays From Other Galaxies Could Emanate From Particles of Dark Matter. X-rays of a specific wavelength emanating from the hearts of nearby galaxies and galaxy clusters could be signs of particles of dark matter decaying in space, two independent teams of astronomers report.

X-rays From Other Galaxies Could Emanate From Particles of Dark Matter

If that interpretation is correct, then dark matter could consist of strange particles called sterile neutrinos that weigh about 1/100 as much as an electron. However, some other researches are skeptical. For decades, astronomers and astrophysicists have thought that some sort of mysterious dark matter must provide the gravity that keeps individual galaxies from falling apart. In fact, the current standard model of cosmology indicates that a typical galaxy forms within a vast clump, or halo, of dark matter whose gravity keeps the stars from flying out into space.

The Black Knight Satellite, Bracewell Probes, and Philip K. Dick. Here follows one of the most interesting and complex stories of Space Conspiracy in existence.

The Black Knight Satellite, Bracewell Probes, and Philip K. Dick

It’s the story of the Black Knight satellite, and so much more. We’re about to go from a misreported news item from 1960, to theoretical science and radio transmission, to the writings of Philip K. Dick, but there’s much ground to cover in between. S Cassini Spacecraft Obtains Best Views of Saturn Hexagon. MadMan's Astrophotography Site. Birth of black hole witnessed, marking watershed moment for astronomy

With astronomers having recorded so many events, now that they’ve used so many different instruments to wring all possible insight from what little information somehow makes it all the way to Earth, simply pointing telescopes at stars is providing diminishing returns. To keep moving forward we need to make use of the universe’s most unusual and, in many cases, violent events so we can see some truly novel data. It’s not just a matter of patience, since the the space industry can’t possibly set up enough telescopes to look everywhere at once. Méteores, comètes et nous. The Holographic Universe. The Holographic Universe The theory that reality, as we consciously experience it, is not real, goes back to the indigenous people who believed that we exist in a dream or illusion.

The Holographic Universe

In our current timeline, we refer to the our virtual reality experience as a matrix, grids, simulation and hologram. There are those trying to prove the hologram exists and others who are trying to break us out of it. Theories about reality being a simulation are increasing. Did Our Universe Collide With Another When it was 380,000 Years Old?

To simplify the idea, the multiverse is basically the idea that there are other universes and we all exist in the same void ‘space’ region. Similar to how we see multiple planets, multiple solar systems, and multiple galaxies, some scientists believe multiple universes also exist. Only problem is proving the existence of something that has a unique set of natural laws existing outside of our own universe inside a region of voidness with little to no physical laws is… difficult.

An international team of astronomers has discovered an exotic young planet that is not orbiting a star. This free-floating planet, dubbed PSO J318.5-22, is just 80 light-years away from Earth and has a mass only six times that of Jupiter. The planet formed a mere 12 million years ago—a newborn in planet lifetimes. Space Has an Up and Down After All. Astronomers love to remind us that there’s no up or down in space. Look out into the depths of the universe and you’ll see galaxies floating edge-on, face-on and at every angle in between. This illustration shows how photons in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) are deflected by the gravitational lensing effect of massive cosmic structures as they travel across the Universe.

Copyright: ESA and the Planck Collaboration Using data from the National Science Foundation’s South Pole Telescope and ESA’s Herschel Space Observatory, astronomers have made the first detection of a subtle twist in the Cosmic Microwave Background, paving the way towards revealing the first moments of the Universe’s existence. Cosmologists have achieved a first detection of a long-sought component in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). This component, known as B-mode polarization, is caused by gravitational lensing, the bending of light by massive structures as it travels across the Universe.
