These sports all started in Britain, where they were popular in the 19th century, when Britain was building its empire. British people who lived abroad taught the local people how to play their favourite sports. Today the teams of these countries regularly beat British teams in international men’s and women’s competitions! The game of rugby started at Rugby School.
