The 3 Worst Words In the English Language. There are words that are not toxic by definition but they are toxic by use.

The 3 Worst Words In the English Language

I’ve used them too much. I hear them too much. The three worst words in the English language are: Busy We’re all too freaking busy, myself included. We hear and say things like: I’m so busy but it’s a good busy. We’ve associated busyness with success such that we feel guilty for resting, relaxing or reflecting. The other day I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn’t get back to sleep. I was able to regain control of the runaway brain by reading a book for a little bit but it was scary to see how quickly the busy brigade hijacked my neurons.

Supermarkets Finding That Less Stuff Means More Money (And Less Waste) We think we want more.

Supermarkets Finding That Less Stuff Means More Money (And Less Waste)

We actually want less: less variety, less confusion, less options. This counterintuitive Paradox of Choice (watch the TED talk by Swarthmore College psychologist Barry Schwartz to understand how this works) is driving a new movement by supermarkets, restaurants, and others to slash some of the billions of dollars in food waste every year, and save hundreds of millions of dollars, by doing something simple: offering less. In 2008, total food loss in the U.S. climbed to $165.6 billion (at retail prices), about one-third of it in the nation’s supermarkets. Yet our waste stream keeps on growing: Today, up to 40% of the nation’s food supply is tossed, up from 30% in 1974.

While the national trend isn’t reversing, companies armed with massive data sets about what sells and what doesn’t have found ways to increase profits and cut waste. Brand Management - Is Your Brand Message on Mute? In our supercharged, connected world, employees tow the brand front line like never before, and they're armed with the tools to reach people directly and in select groups.

Brand Management - Is Your Brand Message on Mute?

In turn, customers, prospects, and others expect that the brands they favor are readily accessible and available at the time of their choosing, via the channel of their choosing. Now Starring Your Brand Whether attending a webinar, completing a survey, or reading a tweet, prospects and stakeholders are receiving, absorbing, and responding to branded messages by employees that represent a company. Employees are charged with the responsibility of serving and honoring the brand both in the tranquil homeland (among satisfied customers) as well as in unknown territories (among new markets and prospects yet to be converted). With greater capabilities for direct access (frequency and channel variety) between a host of internal employees (not just Marketing!) Why Brand Building Is Important.

When the marketing becomes the product

In a world were products and brands become more and more similar, will products end up as commodities, as invitations in to differentiating services and added value offered through the marketing relationship? And how will this affect marketing? A couple of days ago I was asked by Caleb Kramer (@calebkramer) about the inspiration behind my presentation When the Marketing Becomes the Product, this is an extended version of my response. First, the presentation, from slideshare.net. And these thought leaders are the main inspiration behind the presentation.
