The printed-word part of the protest started when Dennis Specht, an anti-nuclear activist then living in Alaska, sent a news item to NEXUS on the topic of HAARP-the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program. Then, an Alaskan political activist and science researcher in Anchorage, Nick Begich, networked with Patrick and Gael Crystal Flanagan, who are self-described "technomonks" living in Sedona, Arizona, and was told to check out that same Australian-based magazine.
