This gave me an opportunity to learn how to use arduino and its Grasshopper interface Firefly. Arduino is a digital electronic interface which is a beginners introduction to working with electronics. Firefly allows users to manipulate the input and output in Grasshopper and Rhino. This can be a powerful tool to create interactive projects. Because the workshop was only for a weekend we were able to develop only some basic prototypes. I was interested in the possible feedback mechanism that could be embedded into the prototype.

The tilting and bending were controlled by sensors on the underside of the canopy. This way I was able to control both the tilt and the bend based not on direct inputs, but based on feedback from the sensors. The electronic setup and grasshopper definition were actually quite simple. Dima's Arduino. Pinout Diagrams for Arduino and Atmel Microcontrollers « Tutorial by Cytron. However with the release of so many new Arduino board variants (Uno R3, DUE, Mega 2560, Leonardo etc.), we really need some visual illustrations to quickly kickstart a project based on the new Arduino board we have in hand. Arduino forum users have created some amazingly useful pinout diagrams. Have a look at the forum posts below: This is so handy that according to the author, you may print it out, laminate it, put up some screws and voilà!

Using Arduino, Firmata and processing together. Even with the power of a real Atmel328 microcontroller running at 16MHz, the 32Kb of space is not enough for larger projects.

Using Arduino, Firmata and processing together

It would be great if we can harness the power of our PC to do the complex processing while the Arduino can be the platform for the sensors and motor controls. In this configuration, you can do much more, the only draw back is you do need to keep your PC tethered, by USB or wifi. Main Page - Firmata. Tutorials / Tutorials. Motor Shield. Main Page - Firmata. This week's tutorial is on how to set up your TouchOSC for iPad and Arduino UNO to be able to control a Servo remotely from anywhere in your house (theoretically anywhere within the same WiFi range).

SELECTED WORKS OF KONRAD SOBON

For this tutorial you will need: 1. TouchOSC app for iPad or iPhone 2. Tutorial : Control a robot with bluetooth. This article will show you how to convert an old toy R/C car from the thrift-store ($1.50) into a bluetooth controlled robot.

Tutorial : Control a robot with bluetooth

To make the conversion, you will need an Arduino (any type), an L298N dual 2-amp motor-controller (or similar), and a bluetooth serial adapter from Sparkfun.com. We will first remove all existing circuitry from the old toy and prepare it for its new brains. Then we will install the Arduino, motor-controller, and bluetooth adapter onto the top of the frame and wire everything up.

Kurt. It is an introduction to microcontroller programming and interfacing with the real world using the Arduino physical computing platform. It focuses on building new physical senses and making motion with the building blocks of robotics, using Arduino as a platform. Arduino. Rhino Webinars - Keenjar. MAS 863.10 Andrew Payne. This week's assignment was a little difficult, only because there are some many choices for input devices.

Even though I would have liked to make many different devices to test an number of different scenarios, I ultimately ended up building a capacitive touch sensor and a light sensor. So, to start I built my own capacitive touch sensor based off of Neil's design. I was a little disappointed in that I was hoping it would measure proximity up to around 5-10 inches away, but ultimately it had little effect until you actually touched the copper surface.

To visualize the input, I decided to replicate Neil's python serial script only using Firefly instead. I did have to make some changes to the C code that is loaded onto the chip. 863. MAS 863.10 Andrew Payne. There is great interest in understanding how building systems can promote site-specific responsiveness to dynamic conditions. The motivation behind this proposal is my desire to create spaces and systems with a capacity to meet changing individual, social, and environmental demands. With this in mind, I decided to design an interactive wall system that responds to a custom built touchscreen. In a nutshell - this type of wall system would allow the participant to literally 'paint' on the windows or openings in the facade. There's a lot of different ways to think about the folding of the wall panels.

My first iteration was looking at using a servo to drive two panels at a time, basically eliminating half of the number of servos needed for each panel group.
