Nihilism Nihilism is also a characteristic that has been ascribed to time periods: for example, Jean Baudrillard and others have called postmodernity a nihilistic epoch,[4] and some Christian theologians and figures of religious authority have asserted that postmodernity[5] and many aspects of modernity[3] represent a rejection of theism, and that such rejection of their theistic doctrine entails nihilism. Forms of nihilism[edit] Nihilism has many definitions, and thus can describe philosophical positions that are arguably independent. grasshopper code . a collection of codes & grammars for Grasshopper, a generative modeling tool for Rhinoceros. 3D Hilbert Curve This definition generates a 3D Hilbert Curve, a continuous fractal space-filling curve. 3D_Hilbert_Curve_Co-de-iT_1.0007.zip

Grasshopper For designers who are exploring new shapes using generative algorithms, Grasshopper is a graphical algorithm editor tightly integrated with Rhino’s 3-D modeling tools. Unlike RhinoScript, Grasshopper requires no knowledge of programming or scripting, but still allows designers to build form generators from the simple to the awe-inspiring. What is Grasshopper? Example of a grasshopper model to design a sun shading system

Relational Geometries Each unique instance of the will be installed as an aggregation of raw, unsealed ceramic tiles. The climate, surface orientation, and potential shading by other structures will affect the ultimate growth and eventual disintegration of the wall. When installed in a shaded, colder environment, vegetation growth will spread slowly. ALEX HOFREFE-RHINO DEFINITIONS This definition was developed for my final thesis project to generate a louver system based on functional requirements within the building. The performance was then tested in Ecotect. A large part of my thesis design involved invertible arena seating with many moving parts.

Ship of Theseus The paradox had been discussed by more ancient philosophers such as Heraclitus, Socrates, and Plato prior to Plutarch's writings; and more recently by Thomas Hobbes and John Locke. There are several variants, notably "grandfather's axe". This thought experiment is "a model for the philosophers"; some say, "it remained the same," some saying, "it did not remain the same".[1] Variations of the paradox[edit]

Generative Algorithms: Porous Shell by Zubin M Khabazi (2011) Introduction by Zubin Khabazi The idea behind the ‘Generative Algorithms, Concepts and Experiments’ is to explore design and algorithmic solutions through experiments rather than pure geometrical/algorithmic subjects. Using current design problems or ongoing researches, here the development of such subjects pursued with a parametric approach in Grasshopper/Rhino Environment. This book is a part of a research that was accomplished as a master thesis in Architectural Association, Emergent Technologies and Design course under supervision of Michael Hensel, Mike Weinstock and Achim Menges. ARCH794 Parametric Thinking & Non-Linear Design Beginnings: P2 – Fractal Screen At the beginning of the quarter I was interested in using parametric programs to design architecture with fractal properties. Choosing where and when to repeat the fractal pattern, I could create areas of greater or less density to control light, visual access or even express load transfers in a structure. For our first project, a three-layer screen, I chose to go with a simple branching pattern using the “interactive split” and “triangulate” tools in Maya. P3 – Light Column

Relational Geometries 2009 This techniques seminar introduces students to the next generation of computer aided design tools that facilitate movement between digital modeling and material prototyping. Working from the idea of parametric design, the seminar methodically moves through a project exploring NURBS modeling, parametric modeling, rapid prototyping, mold making and material prototyping. The software environments that the seminar will introduce are Rhinoceros 4.0 and Grasshopper 0.5, while the rapid prototyping tools include the Universal Laser Cutter and the Dimension 3d Printer. We will begin by exploring the possibilities offered by NURBS modeling through Rhinoceros 4.0. Within this environment we will look at designing surface models whose geometry is derived from natural artifacts. These will be further studied through parametric variation in Grasshopper, which will become the basis for material explorations through the laser cutter, 3D printer and material casts.

Grasshopper This definition divides a given surface and flattens each quad section to be unrolled to a grid on the xy plane. Once unrolled each face is then flattened and given tabs for reconstruction. Labels are provided. THIS IS CURRENTLY A BETA VERSION AND IS NOT FULLY DEVELOPED, CHECK BACK FOR [...]

Mereological essentialism Mereological essentialism is a philosophical thesis about the relationship between wholes and its parts, and the conditions for their persistence. It holds the view that objects have their parts essentially, implying that if an object were to lose or gain a part, it would cease to exist—that is, it would no longer be the original object but a new, different one. Definition[edit] Further, in the case of material concrete objects, mereological essentialism can be true in different senses depending on how such objects are thought to persist through time, these senses going under the names endurantism and perdurantism. Architecture In this tutorial you will learn how can you create shell-like surfaces made of planar hexagons using Kangaroo´s Planrization Forces. CHROMAtex.me is an installationby SOFTlab for the bridgegallery ,the project was funded by offering a small ownership of the installation in exchange for a small donation. Continuing with the experimentation and research of the honeycomb morphologies and as a example for a Workshop I gave recently I . . .
