Have you ever wondered what goes on "behind the scenes" at the International Museum of Women (I.M.O.W.) to support our range of programs and projects? The truth is, our mission to value the lives of women around the world requires a great deal of work. In addition to planning and curating annual exhibitions, I.M.O.W. conducts an on-going speaker series and art and education program. If you would like some first-hand experience in these activities and daily museum operations, consider applying for an internship. Generally six to twelve weeks long, an internship gives you the opportunity to work one-to-one with museum professionals. It is also a great way to meet other interns with similar interests. An internship makes good professional sense, too, because colleges and universities frequently require this type of hands-on-training as a prerequisite for earning degrees, and potential employers are always interested in candidates who come to them with related experience.

SHARE Foundation: Building a New El Salvador Today! Seva Foundation: History. Seva Foundation's history of Compassion in Action The answer turned out to be Seva Foundation. In 1978, after working with the World Health Organization (WHO) to end smallpox in India, Dr. Larry Brilliant (currently President, Skoll Global Threats Fund), and his wife Girija Brilliant, a public health specialist, published an article entitled Death of a Killer Disease. It was a personal account of their decade in Asia, first as youthful travelers, then as spiritual seekers, and eventually as part of WHO's successful smallpox eradication team. They concluded the article with an appeal to readers to find the compassion and understanding to support international health programs to benefit those struggling with poverty.

Readers were moved, and soon $20,000 of donations arrived in Larry and Girija's mailbox — with the first $5,000 coming from not-yet-famous computer inventor, Steve Jobs. The Sight Program is LaunchedDr. Find out how you can give the gift of sight >
