We’ve got together with New York architects WORKac to give away five copies of the second edition of 49 Cities, their study into design proposals for utopian metropolises. Edited and published by Storefront for Art and Architecture , the book features an interview with Michael Webb of the Archigram collective and an essay by Sam Jacob of London architects FAT . Five winners will be selected at random and notified by email. Winners’ names will be published in a future edition of our Dezeenmail newsletter and at the bottom of this page.

This hidden gem is to become one of Tokyo’s key community players amidst a recent wave of ‘new generation’ coffee shops. It’s owner, Eiichi Kunitomo – operates the serving process from within a kiosk-inspired minimalist steel cube, located within a traditional Japanese house which forms the outlet and the basis of the shop’s distinctive identity.

A campaign against the wrongful conviction of an armed robber (later convicted for another armed robbery…), it resulted in scattered graffiti, damaged test wickets / attention to detail : ‘I’m building a small N-gauge layout which is meant to be set in East London (somewhere between Fenchurch St and Barking); the trains run on a viaduct. It’s set in the 1970s/early 80s’ / photographs by Henrietta Williams / Extreme climbing in Moscow , together with a photo gallery of the adventures of Marat Dupri . The Russian ‘ skywalking ‘ offers the armchair architectural explorer plenty of entertainment, not least for the glimpses of rusting neo-Constructivist structures, purpose and precise location unknown.Dropular
