Grains of sand magnified to 250 times real size. Animals' Eyes Up Close. Husky Suren Manvelyan, is a bit of a jack of all trades. He has a PhD in Theoretical Physics specializing in Quantum Chaos but has recently turned his attention to photographing the amazing detailed landscapes of eyes.

The ones featured here are all from animals and includes a husky dog, snail, Siames cat, and even a crocodile as well as a few other creatures. With such close photos, one is able to see details such as the irises' color gradients, textures, patterns and even tiny blood vessels, causing these eyes to look like alien landscapes. Manvelyan has also photographed the human eye and photos of it can be found on his website. Quebec, Canada-based graphic designer and photographer Ulric Collette has created a shockingly cool project where he's exploring the genetic similarities between different members of the same family. By splitting their faces in half and then splicing them together, he creates interesting new people that are sometimes quite normal looking and other times far from it.

He calls this series Genetic Portraits. (Did you notice that Ulric, the photographer, is one-half of some of these pairings? For instance, see first and last.) Update 1: We got in touch with Ulric to ask him a few questions about this really intriguing series (that just happened to go viral). Update 2: What happened after Split Family Faces went viral?

Fullmoonhike.swf (application/x-shockwave-flash Object) The Girl Who Loves to Levitate (14 photos) Natsumi Hayashi is a sweet-looking Japanese girl who, one day, decided to take self-portraits..of herself levitating. She can be spotted in and around Tokyo, equipped with her SLR and her self-timer. When she feels the moment strike, she presses the shutter button down and then, quite literally, "jumps" into place.

What I love most about her shots is that they don't feel forced. Natsumi has a way of making us feel as though she naturally levitates throughout life. When I asked her how others react to her jumping around Tokyo, here is a funny story that she shared. "So I stopped jumping and apologized to them by saying, 'I am taking jumping photos for my wedding party's slide show.' "Then, I took one of the best levitation shots of the entire series. " "We are all surrounded by social stress as we are bound by the forces of earth's gravity," Natsumi says when asked why she took on the series.
