Everyone knows that making it into the big leagues in any sport is hard...really hard...nearly impossible actually. The truth is less than half a percent of high school seniors playing baseball today will wind up getting drafted by a Major League Baseball team (that's 0.45% for those who are mathematically inclined). Of those drafted an even smaller percentage will make it out of the minors and an even smaller percentage will have long, successful, multi-million dollar careers.

That’s why I was so pleased to be guest of honour at the launch of the Welding Skills Centre in Stevenage last Thursday. This fantastic initiative bonds welding supplies company Weldability SIF, North Hertfordshire College and The Welding Institute – triumvirate that combines strength, style & substance.
Liverpool visual effects and post production house Sparkle has been commissioned by film director Alex Cox to produce the ‘3D world’ for his latest film in production Repo Chick. Repo Chick is currently in filming in the US. The film has been written and is being directed by Alex Cox and is being produced by David Lynch. Sparkle won the work without a competitive pitch.

The proposal is now under discussion in the Council of EU Ministers and the European Parliament. Why Creative Europe? Design Initiative Announces Closure , the regional design development agency that supports the design sector in the North West, has announced its closure on 13th April 2012. The decision results from the loss of funding from a number of sources over the past 12 months. The organisation remains extremely proud of its achievements and the opportunities it has created for thousands of businesses in the region.
