Omni Is Cloud Storage For Your Physical Stuff

The company launched their iOS app in the Apple App Store today, the first full release of a product that has been in the works for a while. Omni has been operating in the San Francisco area for several months now, working with a limited user base and distributing its mobile product on a test basis. The company is trying to build an on-demand warehouse for bags of items that users ask to be picked up. Omni will then unpack boxes or bags of items that it receives, itemizing every item and cataloging a high-resolution photo of it. Once items are in Omni’s database, users can withdraw them on two hours’ notice. The company is just getting started but has already attracted the attention of no less than 24 investors who have piled into Omni’s seed round.

TapBuy Deals: Mobile Shopping, Without The Hassle. The future may be mobile, but trying to shop at an online retailer from your phone is often a surefire way to get a headache.

TapBuy Deals: Mobile Shopping, Without The Hassle

Sure, online stores are now much better about offering mobile-optimized sites than they were a few years ago — but even then, plugging in your credit card information on your phone’s keyboard is a pain, and quickly buying multiple items from multiple stories is basically out of the question. There are a few good experiences to be had (I’ve used Amazon’s mobile apps plenty of times, and they generally work well). But it’s the exception, not the rule. That’s why Kima Labs built TapBuy, a new mobile app (and platform) with a focus on making the mobile shopping experience as good as it should be.

You enter your credit card information once, and can use it across multiple stores. The first time you buy something you’ll have to enter your credit card information and shipping address. And this is just the start. Local Shopping - Sales, Deals & Coupons from stores near you. Plum Perfect. Birchbox Turns To Advertising Birchbox Men…In The Woman’s Birchbox. Birchbox Turns To Advertising Birchbox Men…In The Woman’s Birchbox

The service promised to deliver the same sort of goodies as the woman’s Birchbox, just with a male theme. As Kim-Mai wrote at the time, this could include four to five picks per month with samples like high-end shave gel, deodorant and skincare products from brands like Billy Jealousy, Costume National, Kérastase and Kiehl’s. The Birchbox Men boxes could even include headphones or socks. But the company just ratcheted up the marketing with a little teaser in the woman’s Birchbox this month, clearly targeting the subscriber’s male counterpart — Father’s Day being this Sunday might have something to do with the timing, too. My wife first discovered the little surprise, yelling through the house to tell me there was something in her Birchbox for me this month. The back of the packaging describes the new service. Successfully launching the new male Birchbox would secure the company in two similar, but still niche markets. Deluxe beauty samples delivered to your door monthly. Nomorerack.com.

Giftly’s New App Lets You Send Any Gift To Friends, Family Straight From Your iPhone. Giftly, a San Francisco-based startup that lets you send any kind of gift to a friend or family member, has just come out with a native mobile app that makes it easier to send presents on the go.

Giftly’s New App Lets You Send Any Gift To Friends, Family Straight From Your iPhone

It’s the company’s first native mobile app after having a mobile web-based presence for awhile. What’s unique about Giftly is that you can send any kind of gift without having to go through a merchant. There aren’t limitations on what kinds of presents you can send, unlike competitors like Karma (which was recently acquired by Facebook and has a limited catalogue of items to choose from). You enter the app and can pick from a suggested selection of items from beer to a meal to a day in Paris. Or you can invent your own gifts. The trick underlying the app is that Giftly has a web of relationships with banks and credit card processors. The company’s new app lets you send gifts directly through your phone. There’s also more ability for follow-through after the recipient gets their gift. Wrapp. Wrapp Brings Social, Mobile Gifting Service To The U.S.; Partners With The Gap, H&M And Others.

Shopkick Says It’s Now Profitable, With Its Shopping App Adding $200M In Sales For Target, Best Buy And Others In 2012

With its combination of in-store hardware and user-friendly mobile app that pinged customers with deals when they walked into a participating merchant, it looked like one crucial part of the mobile commerce puzzle — actually getting people to use their phones to get deals on goods and buy them — was finally cracked. Today, at a time when many startups still shy away from talk of business models, shopkick has done something else: it’s reached profitability. As of Q4, the company is in the black, it announced today. Shopkick says that the $200 million figure is more than double what it made in 2011 — in total it’s driven $300 million in revenue since first launching in the autumn of 2010.

It says that has tracked 16 million verified walk-ins to stores — 2 million/month in Q4 — along with 26 million product scans and “millions” of transactions. Shopkick. The company is today announcing the release of its consumer-facing iPhone app which lets shoppers browse and follow offline retailers, the brands they carry, as well as very specific items, like “brown leather boots” or “black Kate Spade maxi dress,” for example. If one of Walk.by’s merchants has the product in stock, the shopper is alerted by push notification and can then choose to either purchase the item outright or place a reservation. The latter essentially means placing the item on hold so they can see it in person, or, in the case of apparel, go try it on. With a plan of making product ratings social, Greentape is launching a new app that they hope will bring in-store product reviews to consumers while (hopefully) spawning more product purchases for merchants.

Greentape Brings Reviews To Consumers And Data To Merchants

The team is demoing this new app at TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2013. Greentape works like this: Consumers download the app, and as they move throughout a retail store the location aware app notifies them about products with the active user reviews as they pass by those products. It is accurate to about 3 feet or so, according to CEO Chris Daltas. My first question of course was “how is this different from ShopKick”. Chris was quick to point out that Greentape is all about reviews and not rewards. Your Personal Stylist Online. Virtusize - The virtual fitting solution. Wanelo - Want, Need, Love. Other investors include Golden Gate Ventures, 500 Startups, Danny Oei Wirianto and Darius Cheung. The startup will use its funding to expand into Indonesia and Malaysia before tackling other Southeast Asian markets. The startup’s founding team, Quek Siu Rui, Marcus Tan Yi Wei and Lucas Ngoo, demoed the first version of the app at Startup Weekend Singapore in March 2012 and began working on it full-time two months later. Rui says the trio wanted to create a marketplace app because they found using classified listing sites and online forums to sell secondhand books, clothing and other small items tedious and time-consuming. Wisely Helps You Find Where To Shop Or Eat Based On Real Consumer Spending Patterns, Not User Reviews. When looking for a new place to eat, drink or shop, most people turn to local recommendations services like Yelp, Google Places or Foursquare. A new mobile application called Wisely, launching today, has a different idea. Instead of user reviews, Wisely taps into actual transaction data, allowing you to filter searches by things like popularity or average bill size.

The app is the latest from a company called Glyph, which pivoted from its earlier efforts launched last year, which had been focused on helping you determine which credit card to use in order to earn better rewards. Explains CEO Mike Vichich, the company found that it was difficult to get people engaged with Glyph for a number of reasons. People use their credit cards for a number of things, he says. “But we always felt like transaction data was really important, and told a story about the world we live in,” he explains. “The mountain that we’re climbing is data democratization,” says Vichich. Elephanti Raises $4.5M To Help Shoppers Find Products In Nearby Stores. Elephanti, a startup that’s supposed to make it easier for physical stores to connect with shoppers online, is announcing that it has raised $4.5 million in seed funding from LMJ Holdings. The basic selling point for consumers, according to founder and CEO Lalin Michael Jinasena, is avoiding situations where you end up wandering from store to store, asking, “Do you sell Item X?”

Instead, you can just visit the website or open the app, then search for a specific item, bringing up a list of stores that carry it. Reviews you can trust. A smarter way to sell online.
