The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley , West Sussex in 1976. The band has experienced several line-up changes, with frontman, vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter Robert Smith being the only constant member. The Cure first began releasing music in the late 1970s with its debut album Three Imaginary Boys (1979); this, along with several early singles, placed the band as part of the post-punk and new wave movements that had sprung up in the wake of the punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom.

[ 4 ] She has won four BRIT Awards , four MTV Video Music Awards , one MOJO Award , three UK Music Video Awards , and, in 2010, the Polar Music Prize from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in recognition of her "deeply personal music and lyrics, her precise arrangements and her unique voice." The White Stripes was an American rock duo, formed in 1997 in Detroit , Michigan . The group consisted of drummer Meg White (drums and occasional vocals) and songwriter Jack White (vocals, guitar, and keyboards). Meg and Jack White were previously married to each other, but are now divorced. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] After releasing several singles and three albums within the Detroit music scene , the White Stripes rose to prominence in 2002, as part of the garage rock revival scene.

He is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame : once as a solo artist, and separately as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream . Clapton has been referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time. [ 1 ] Clapton ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the " 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time " [ 2 ] and fourth in Gibson's Top 50 Guitarists of All Time. [ 3 ] In the mid-1960s, Clapton departed from the Yardbirds to play blues with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers . In his one-year stay with Mayall, Clapton gained the nickname "Slowhand".
