Twelve representatives from the Wichita Public Library, the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum and the Wichita State University Libraries' Department of Special Collections met to discuss the creation of a single Web-based source where researchers could view and study images of Wichita. A smaller subcommittee representing the three participating repositories was formed in early 2001. This subcommittee was charged with the selection of images for the project as well as the application of technical standards, preparation of image descriptions (metadata), submission of digital images, configuration of the prototype and expanded Web site, and investigation of site hosting opportunities.

The workshops include three one-week sessions that are oriented toward different aspects of natural history.
I regularly work with the Golden Trout ("GT") workshop organization as a volunteer to help arrange the workshops. The Camp is located in the Golden Trout Wilderness, from which it gets its name. For a small map of the area, click here. These workshops provide access to the High Sierra wilderness with significantly more comfort than backpacking provides.
