Beliefs \ Transhumanist Church

We are a religious organization that brings together the ideas of Humanism, Transhumanism, Cryonics, and Universal Immortalism into one all encompassing belief structure. We are a small movement, in the infancy of our development, but feel that there is a need for our message. While many have eloquently argued the merits and logic of our positions, we feel that there is still a need to place this all in a religious context.

Religion and faith rule the lives of the vast majority of the people on this planet. Transhumanism. Transhumanism (>H or H+) is the belief that we can, and should , try to overcome our biological limitations by means of reason, science, and technology. Transhumanists seek things like intelligence augmentation, increased strength and beauty, extreme life extension, sustainable mood enhancement , and the capability to get off-planet and explore the universe. Organ-on-a-chip technologies seek to replace animal models and cell culture by allowing scientists to study human tissue with three-dimensional structure and, with microfluidic channels, is bathed in fluids in ways that mimic normal physiology.

Scientifically speaking, the ideal test subject for medical research is the human being. Japanese Researchers Continue Quest To Build Life-Like Humanoid Robots. In the graphic novel The Watchmen, the physicist Jon Osterman is vaporized in an experiment and comes back as the god-like Doctor Manhattan after meticulously putting himself together again one organ system at a time. In a way, Japanese researchers are doing their own version of this through efforts to create human-like robots, though it’s requiring a much longer time frame to make a person out of metal and plastics.

In a recent effort to mimic the human musculoskeletal system, researchers at the University of Tokyo unveiled Kenshiro, a 50-kg robot that has the bones and muscles akin to a 12-year-old boy. Prototype Bionic Eye Goes Live In World First

A blind woman can now see spots of light after being implanted with an early prototype bionic eye, confirming the potential of the world-first technology. Australian researchers have been working for years to develop the bionic eye, in which electrodes are inserted into the retina of vision-impaired patients. Dianne Ashworth, 54, was the first patient fitted with the device in surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in May. Decoding the Human Eye. Artificial retinas are already in human clinical trials at the University of Southern California, where they have helped blind patients distinguish walls from doorways and even watch soccer games, albeit as blurs of motion.

But approximating normal vision–and possibly enabling people to read–will require devices that can deliver electrical current with much greater control and precision. Retinal Implants Restore Partial Sight To Three Blind. A microchip with 1,500 light sensors sits beneath the retina and stimulates neurons which project to the brain's visual cortex.

Jan Scheuermann, who is 53 and paralysed from the neck down, was able to deftly grasp and move a variety of objects just like a normal arm. Experts in the field said it was an "unprecedented performance" and a "remarkable achievement". Jan was diagnosed with spinocerebellar degeneration 13 years ago and progressively lost control of her body.

She is now unable to move her arms or legs. Robo-arm. Deaf Toddler Receives Bionic Ear, Weeks Later Speaks Her First Word. Evie Small heard her first sound and said her first word thanks to a bionic ear implant.

Deaf Toddler Receives Bionic Ear, Weeks Later Speaks Her First Word

A two-year old British girl born severely deaf due to a developmental disorder has spoken her first word after receiving a bionic ear. The medical team led by Dr. Vittorio Colletti, the leading surgeon for installing ear implants in pediatric patients, performed the surgery on Evie Small last June in Verona, Italy. After recovering from swelling in her brain after the surgery, the device was turned on a month later. In just two weeks, Evie heard her first sound and was able to clearly repeat her mother saying “mumma”. More than simply enabling her to hear, the device is key to her cognitive development, ability to speak, and otherwise lead a healthy life in a world full of sound.

New Microscopy Tracks Molecules in Live Tissue at Video Rate. Whole-Body Magnetic Resonance Neurography. How would neural interfacing improve intelligence? Q: How would neural interfaces work? A: Neural interfacing refers to direct, useful connections between brains (neurons) and computers (transistors.) It is also referred to as BCI (brain-computer interfacing).

It is much more complicated than it sounds. Neurons and transistors have almost nothing in common. They both communicate using electrical impulses, but neurons do this through chemical reactions rather than external current.
