Well, apparently, that might not just be a catchy T-shirt slogan. just published a study that found listening to music you like increases the level of dopamine in your brain — like actual drugs (or chocolate , for that matter). Project leader Valorie Salimpoor found that samples of a variety of instrumental music — everything from techno to classical to jazz — produced “feelings of euphoria and cravings,” as measured through reports of chills and fMRIs of subjects’ cerebral activity. But we wondered: what music, exactly, produced these drug-like effects?

Young Alaska is arguably his finest work to date, distilling a stirring, mood-rich take on techno, ghostly vocals and crackling, delicate beats pulled onto dance floor templates. 'Notes' revolves around mournfully fluttering vocals and crisp but light percussion, building a soulful odyssey that, while it pulsates with the steady thump of club music, is far more geared towards the heart and head. The gritty strings and pinging synths that carry the opening title track are hypnotising, while the spiralling electronics of 'Mt. Grace', underpinned by sighing voices, is strangely moving. 'Beirut' is probably the album's most club-focused moment, glimmering pads creating a tightly wound atmosphere.

The 13 Best Pop Songs About Women Masturbating On New York radio show Zach Sang & the Gang, Carly Rae Jepsen recently admitted rather sheepishly that she wrote a song about "...it rhymes with contemplation" for her new album E•MO•TION, but within five minutes told co-writer Bonnie McKee, "'You know this isn't making my album right?" Jepsen seemed to think it obvious that—even in 2015—recording a song about female masturbation would be taboo. But evidence suggests this isn’t the case at all. In 2015 alone, we’ve seen two singles released by women in music that focus specifically on solo sex—one musician completely new to the industry and the other a celebrated performer with decades of experience—as well as the continued success of a monstrous hit from 2014.
