External evaluation team core definition explanatory context External evaluation team has many names including: expert committee, visiting experts, visiting team, peer review team, external peers, academic peer review team, evaluation group; Normally, external evaluation teams undertake an site visits. This is not always the case and they must just deal with documentation, as for example the assessors in the UK Research Assessment Exercise. Normally external evaluation teams include peer experts with knowledge and experience appropriate to the evaluation or review process being undertaken. analytical review INQAAHE (2001, p. 4) defines external evaluation team as follows: The external evaluation team (also called expert committee, visiting team, peer review team, academic peer review team) is the group of experts, invited by the agency to do the audit or assessment.

External quality assessment ('EQA), or external quality assessment schemes(EQAS) is a challenge of the effectiveness of a laboratory's quality management system, typically referring specifically to medical laboratories. The term external refers to the fact that that the laboratory's results are assessed by a third party. The most common EQA process is proficiency testing, in which an organization sends samples to a group of different laboratories and results are compared among the group. Retesting of the same sample by different laboratories and on-site visits to evaluate laboratory processes may also be part of an EQA scheme.[1] Typically, an EQA scheme consists of several rounds per year. In each round participants receive test items, which are also called samples.

The EQA organizer is also called the provider. Laboratories are often accredited for ISO 17025 and ISO 15189 compliance. Typically, EQA scheme organizers are accredited according to the ISO 17043 standard. [edit] Internal Evaluation - Analytic Quality Glossary - Quality Research International. Internal evaluation is a process of quality review undertaken within an institution for its own ends (with or without the involvement of external peers). Internal review is something an institution does for its own purposes. From an external agency perspective, internal review is seen as the part of the external process that an institution undertakes in preparation for an external event, such as a peer-review, site visit.

In such circumstances, internal review tends to be conflated with self-evaluation. Internal review is synonomous with the first part of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ENQA, 2005), entitled "Part 1: European standards and guidelines for internal quality assurance within higher education institutions". The document claims: analytical review There is a tendency in the literature to equate internal evaluation with self-evaluation. However, the two terms are distinct. Evaluation core definition explanatory context Quality evaluation may be undertaken internally or externally. External evaluation is a process for undertaking an independent evaluation. Note: evaluation is often used in a generic way to mean any kind of review of quality or standards, irrespective of any evaluative judgement being passed.

It is even used as shorthand for external quality evaluation. In some settings evaluation is used to encompass all forms of quality assurance other than accreditation. Analytical review INQAAHE, for example, adopt a generic approach but apply it to an agency activity: Evaluation (also called review) is used as the general description of the activity of an EQA-agency [external quality assurance agency] for collecting data, information and evidence about the quality of an institution, the quality of parts of an institution or the quality of its core activities: education and/or research.

It is a scientific and cultural truism that self-evaluation is motivated. Subject Evaluation - Analytic Quality Glossary - Quality Research International. Student evaluation core definition Student evaluation has two meanings: 1. student evaluation is an assessment by learners of the service provided by the institution, be it solely of the classroom experience or of all aspects of the learning experience. 2. in some countries, such as the United States and Canada, 'student evaluation' has the same meaning as assessment of students' learning explanatory context Student evaluation sometimes involves an evaluation of all aspects of the learning experience provided by the institution, including teaching, library, information technology, through to the sport facilities and catering.

In other cases, the student evaluation might be restricted to feedback on the performance of teaching staff, usually undertaken at the unit (course or module) level. Student evaluation is sometimes referred to as student feedback. Student evaluation is a vital part of any educational process. Subject evaluation core definition explanatory context Subject evaluation is ambiguous because it is not always clear what the scope of a subject is. analytical review For Kristoffersen (2003): The main purpose of a subject evaluation is to assess the quality of a specific subject within a programme, including the methods of teaching applied in relation to the subject and its context.

This view of subject differs to that of the UK QAA, which undertook subject assessments/reviews, that were wider than a single programme, for example, history might appear on a range of programmes including classical history, economic history, modern history Subject review was the review method used between 1993 and 2001 for specific subjects taught in higher education in England and Northern Ireland…. Giffiths University, Australia, (2004) has a different take, focusing on internal, professional development: 2. the way the subject is taught; 3. students’ learning and teacher-student relationships; related areas Top.

☢️ Data Analysis. ☢️ Quality. Evaluation. A systematic determination of a subject's merit, worth and significance In common usage, evaluation is a systematic determination and assessment of a subject's merit, worth and significance, using criteria governed by a set of standards. It can assist an organization, program, design, project or any other intervention or initiative to assess any aim, realisable concept/proposal, or any alternative, to help in decision-making; or to generate the degree of achievement or value in regard to the aim and objectives and results of any such action that has been completed.[1] Definition[edit] Evaluation is the structured interpretation and giving of meaning to predicted or actual impacts of proposals or results.

Evaluation is inherently a theoretically informed approach (whether explicitly or not), and consequently any particular definition of evaluation would have been tailored to its context – the theory, needs, purpose, and methodology of the evaluation process itself. Purpose[edit]
