We have one of the largest PhD cohorts in the country, graduating high-quality PhDs every year. Read about our Research Centres. Brunel has invested heavily to make research students’ experience exciting, fruitful, and pleasant, including extensive research methods courses and research seminars in the department, generic skills training at the Brunel Graduate School, provision of PhD bursaries, funding for attending conferences, away-days, and workshops. Every research student has access to office space and computer, and is integrated into one of the University Research Centres in the Department. Apply for a place on our PhD study programmes Our traditional PhD programme can be undertaken in 3 years as a full-time student or 4-8 years as a part-time student.
NewRoutePhDTM. Research Degrees. Home» Research» Research Degrees Research students are welcomed to Brunel as valued members of our thriving, research-intensive community. A research degree provides the opportunity to investigate a topic in depth, and contribute new knowledge to your discipline, and there are opportunities to study for a PhD (or MPhil) in all academic Schools and Research Institutes across the University. Professional Doctorates and the New Route PhD enhance the doctoral experience through the inclusion of an integral taught programme, and are offered in a number of subject specialisations. Taught Masters of Research (MRes) degrees are also offered in some disciplines as a preparation for a research degree.
PhD The 'traditional' PhD involves an in-depth exploration of a research topic. Both full-time (over 3-4 years) and part-time (over 4-8 years) study routes are available. Some practice-based PhDs are available within the School of Arts. MPhil Professional Doctorates New Route PhD New Route PhD MRes. Department of Information Systems and Computing. Home» SISCM» Computing» Postgraduates» Study for a PhD» Department of Computer Science - PhD Research Proposal Instructions In addition to completing the online application form we would like you to provide us with a brief research proposal containing a description of the planned research and its context. The proposal will help us judge the viability of your proposed research, your capability to undertake it, and to match your proposed research topic to ongoing or new research in the Department. The proposal will not bind you to a specific research topic. During the course of your doctoral research you will refine your research hypothesis and your research questions, and the research method(s) to use to pursue your research.
Your proposal should be no more than 2500 words long and it should cover the following three main issues: Your area of research (for example Software Engineering, Multimedia). Centre for Intelligent Data Analysis. Home» SISCM» Computing» Research» Centre for Intelligent Data Analysis CIDA aims to meet the challenges in analysing, integrating and visualising a variety of high-dimensional, fast evolving, large-scale real-world noisy data.
The centre champions the interdisciplinary approach to data analysis and has developed many innovative IDA methods and algorithms that have found successful applications in a range of areas, including biomedicine and digital economy. Home» Research» Research Degrees» New Route PhD Brunel is one of a number of English universities selected to offer this prestigious type of PhD programme. Supported by the UK national research, quality and funding agencies, this programme aims to educate graduates not only to the high academic standards expected from PhD research but also provides advanced training in generic and discipline-specific skills. The successful completion of this training will result in a PhD with integrated Postgraduate Diploma that explicitly recognises your development as a professional researcher. Extending the usual PhD from three to four years the programme ensures you are able to develop an integrated range of skills and knowledge that will broaden and deepen your subject expertise beyond the bounds of the usual research degree.
About Brunel Brunel has a long tradition of offering quality taught and research programmes and is particularly renowned for the applied nature of much of its activity. About us. FaP: 2019-10-29. Seminars & Events.
