I have a few tips so you won’t get have too much problem when sewing with knit fabric: Make sure you use a ball point needle.Don’t use a fabric that stretch too much.Don’t use a thin fabric, choose one with medium or normal thickness.Experiment with a piece of scrap fabric to test the correct tension for your machine.

So, when we got a hand-me-down warm-up pants with a hole in the knee. After I cut the pants and made them shorts, I put the leftover fabric to the side. With doll clothes on my mind, I decided it was time to convert these scraps to an American Girl Outfit. (Linkup closed) These pants should be 7" wide. The crotch is 5 1/2" long. Put the to legs of the pants together and pin them together. Measure elastic. You can sew the elastic right onto the material, or just sew the elastic together. Now it's time for the top. These are very easy pants to make, there is only one patten piece. Please note, the pattern needs to be made two inches longer at the bottom of the legs than is shown, this is because the pattern is longer than the length of the copy paper. Just extend the legs straight from the bottom two more inches. This pattern is my original design and may not be used commercially.
