EVERYTHING I make apparently is very confused! I mean what is THIS!?? I was previously calling it “Asian chive knish”, and now it’s “Asian hot pocket”???!! I’m gonna point fingers and blame this complete abomination on the corner grocer who had CLEARLY deceived me. “Hi, I would like to order some Asian chives.” “Sure, how much do you want? “A bundle? THIS! Someone might say, “Wait, but this looks NOTHING like an Asian chive box!”.
However I didn’t intend for these to actually LOOK like Asian meat buns. What’s up with the B/W photo? Finally, after my third visit, I was able to buy some. Then I learned not to buy a huge loaf of freshly baked Italian bread when all you have is a small blunt bread knife that takes an eternity just to make even one slice. I practically massacred and mutilated that bread that I had to buy ANOTHER loaf of bread that's already been sliced.
Problem solved. I guess some days you're up and some days you're down. Not wanting to waste all that poor Italian bread that didn't make the sandwich, I decided to turn it into something that some of you may be familiar with in a cupcake. NO. I am doing this my way. In a BREAD PUDDING. So to all the big lemon fans out there, get ready to pucker up! If you're a big lemon lover, then you will definitely LOVE this! It's TART. The bread pudding itself has a subtle lemon flavor, crisp at the top, moist inside but not soggy, with pockets of velvety cream cheese and studded with poppyseeds.
Wait! Homemade Twix Bars. Before I get on with the food, I just have to say something... THEY'RE MAKING A STAR WARS EPISODE SEVEN!!!!! I don't care if Disney is doing it. I don't care if Han is going to be an old man. All I know is that my wildest dreams are finally coming true. The only thing I'm sad about is that I didn't become a famous actress in time. Now, about the Twix. Anywho, I was not a Twix fan when I first made these. First comes the crust. Press it in there real good. While that's baking, make some caramel. That is the color I look for. The caramel is always very excited to receive it's butter. Now onto the crust. Refrigerate it for a while until the caramel is firm.
Now on with the chocolate. Smooth it out gently so you don't disrupt the caramel. And there you have it. So if you're running low on Halloween candy and are having chocolate withdrawals, I hope these ease your pain. Slow Cooker Chicken Marsala and Rice. For a date night we went with some good friends for a scenic fall drive through the Alpine Loop (if you live in Utah, you know how beautiful the Alpine Loop is!). We planned to grab a bite at a new burger joint afterwards but by the time we got back it was late, the burger joint was closed, and we were starving. Our friends talked us in to trying a Thai restaurant that was nearby and happened to be open late (Kellie, do you remember this?). I was skeptical- I had never tried Thai or curry, and the fact they were open late made me wonder if they were desperate for business?
But we gave it a try. Our friends told us exactly what to order–a couple of different curries with rice and noodles. And we loved it! My friend told me about this slow cooker Coconut Curry Chicken recipe and the instant I heard “slow cooker” and “curry”, I knew I needed to try it. Slow Cooker Coconut Curry Chicken Serves 6 Ingredients Notes. Pumpkin Mac & Cheese with Apples and Caramelized Onions. Now that I’ve seen my first official snowfall of the season and have broken out my winter hat and gloves, all I can think about are warm and cozy meals, and when it comes to comfort food, it doesn’t get much better than mac and cheese! But as you’ve probably guessed from the title, this is no ordinary mac and cheese! And even though it might sound a little weird, I promise that it works! This mac and cheese has a ton of flavour going on – there’s pumpkin puree, pumpkin beer, sautéed apples, caramelized onions, and smoked applewood cheddar cheese – and it all works together so well!
I can never decide if I prefer stovetop or baked mac and cheese, so I tried this both ways. Or you could keep going; sprinkle some breadcrumbs on top and throw it in the oven so you get a crunchy topping with cheesy goodness underneath - it really just depends on how you like your mac and cheese. And I certainly had no problem finishing this whole dish by myself (though not all at once, of course!) Serves 4-6. Sweet Potato and Bacon Hash. Homemade Tasso Recipe. Tasso (TAH-so) is a smoked seasoning meat used to flavor dishes like Gumbo, Jambalaya, and Red Beans & Rice. Tasso used to be made from the trim after an Acadian Hog Boucherie, thin strips, heavily seasoned, dried, then smoked for hours. These days however, most of the Tasso that is available is a little more fancy, more of a ham than the style of the old days, mine is somewhere in between. I always find it amazing how ingredients and recipes, that basically came from scrap and the poorest times evolve into Gourmet, I love it.
Tasso will keep in the freezer and is pretty easy to make, but you have to do a little planning. Homemade Tasso Recipe 5 lbs Pork cut as described above Seasoning: 3 Tbsp Kosher Salt 2 Tsp Cayenne or To Taste (see above) 4 Tbsp Paprika 2 Tbsp Fresh Garlic, minced 2 Tbsp Coarsely Ground Black Pepper 1 tsp Cinnamon 1 Tbsp White Pepper 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar Mix the seasoning together well.

We had cheesesteaks from both Geno’s and Pat’s, which was the highlight, of course. Kramer and I unanimously agreed that Pat’s was the better of the two, but they were both delicious and I’m happy to be able to say that I tried each one!
We went to Independence Hall, the Military Museum, Carpenter’s Hall, the Benjamin Franklin Museum, and more. I had such a fantastic time walking through history; I was really in my element. I love just standing in the same place that such incredible people did only a few hundred years ago. We also ate at the Union Trust Steakhouse, which was maybe the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever been in. With Labor Day over, so ends summer! Now, on to what you’ve all been waiting for!

Beer Run Cupcakes | The Crepes of Wrath. Good morning, everyone, and welcome to another Monday. The weather has been beautiful in New York lately, so it’s easy to be in a great mood, even if it is Monday. We had a nice, relaxing weekend, hanging out with some friends and eating plenty of good food.
We had Roberta’s pizza on Friday night, bagels for brunch and Thai for dinner on Saturday, and, of course, to round out a great weekend, pancakes for breakfast on Sunday morning. We also watched a few good movies; Game Change was on HBO on Saturday, which I absolutely loved. I know that these types of things are always exaggerated, but I thought that the acting was superb and the dialogue was fantastic, which is exactly what I wanted. We also watched Megamind, which is a pretty big 180 from Game Change, but I thought it was hilarious. Will Ferrell’s delivery is just as sharp in an animated movie as it is in a live action one. Speaking of next weekend, you know what it is, right? Your ingredients. Author: The Crepes of Wrath. Malted Milk Ball Shake Float | CouponClippingCook. Malted Milk Ball Shake Float What on earth is a Shake Float? Well, you’ve heard of a root beer float right…..where you add ice cream to a glass and pour root beer over it.
A shake float is the same only you pour a shake over the ice cream that’s in the glass. And the ice cream in the glass is a different flavor than the ice cream that the shake is made out of. How fun is that! This shake is made with vanilla ice cream, malted milk balls, and malted milk. Then, the shake is poured over Expresso Chocolate Chip ice cream. But you can use any combination of flavors that you like. What a fun and over the top amazingly delicious treat. The biggest decision you’ll need to make is if you should use a straw or a spoon. I used both…maybe at the same time. Let’s check out the ingredients. Milk, vanilla ice cream, malted milk balls, malted milk, and expresso chocolate chip ice cream.
