I remember where I was sitting the first time I heard “Melody Day” and tripped over myself to find out who was making that colossal, layered, glorious mash-up of sound. I didn’t think it could, but it gets better, courtesy of Caribou drummer Brad Weber… Pick A Piper is a collective from Weber along with Angus Fraser, Dan Roberts, and Clint Scrivener. They leave no sonic stone unturned: flute, trumpets, glockenspiel, flutes, hand claps, bells, and basically anything you can hit to make a sound. But more than anything it’s the percussion assault that gets you. Their music doesn’t just have a beat, it’s multi-rhythmic. It feels like it could be chanted. So far they’ve only released a 4-song EP, I’ve listened to it constantly for two days. For now, stop what you’re doing and listen to my favourite tracks, “Dene Sled” and “Hallam Progress”:
October 2010. 3D Television with Glasses Perhaps we’re a bit ahead of ourselves here, but since a whole country is engaged in wishful thinking, for the moment we’ll go along. In May, Japan announced that as part of a bid for the FIFA World Cup in 2022, the country would have the ability to project holographic reproductions of live games by 2016.
That would mean we could ditch the 3D glasses, go to a stadium, and watch the game played out by digital avatars. Michael Inouye, an analyst with New York’s ABI Research, says he doubts the claim of workable holographs by 2016 but says 3D television with glasses will be obsolete on the retail side within three to five years. Combustion Engines Given the geopolitical, environmental, and economic problems associated with oil, the drumbeat to replace combustion engines becomes louder every year. It’s just a question of coming up with an affordable replacement that will satisfy the needs of the driving public. Consumer Video Cameras—MiniDV, Flip Cameras, Camcorders. Touch Sight is a revolutionary digital camera that was designed Chueh Lee, Liqing Zou, Ning Xu, Saiyou Ma, Dan Hu, Fengshun Jiang and Zhenhui Sun for blind people to take photos. Yes, I know how it sounds but the idea is very interesting. The camera records 3 seconds of sound before the picture was taken and displays it on a lightweight, flexible braille. The image is embossed on the surface of the braille so the user can touch it. The sound is can be used as reference when viewing or reviewing the photo. During the research it was discovered that the best place for a blind person to stabilize the camera is the forehead. This is a brilliant concept I just hope it goes into production and it won’t be very expensive.

Office for the development of Substitute Materials* Here you can see the voltage generated when the switch is closed, outputing to a voltmeter. .36 volts isn’t much, but it proves the concept. I was getting .7 earlier, but it drops as the potato slices dry out. To get a more useful voltage I would simply need to rinse, lather, and repeat, so to speak. Smelt more copper, forge more iron, and make the pile taller. Of course, at some point I would come to a crucial understanding: one person cannot build an electronic communication network by themselves, because you need at least two people to communicate. I’ll be posting the video of the second session’s activities sometime this week, as well as some more documentation and musings. Fun Forever - Luxury fun is affordable for everyone! Everynone. The 'Psycho' killer played onscreen by Christian Bale may be headed for the stage. Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik, already touring with concert performances of his new musical Whisper House, may have another dark tuner in the works. The Spring Awakening mastermind has been tapped to pen music and lyrics for the musical adaptation of twisted novel and film American Psycho, according to Variety. Scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is also attached to the project as bookwriter. American Psycho became a cult phenomenon in 1991, when the violent Bret Easton Ellis book about a deranged Wall Street banker with an affinity for '80s pop music, sex and killing people first hit shelves. The novel was adapted into a film in 2000, starring Christian Bale as titular killer Patrick Bateman and co-starring Reese Witherspoon, Samantha Mathis, Willem Dafoe, Josh Lucas and Justin Theroux.
Sheik originally found success as a solo artist with the Billboard hit "Barely Breathing. " The Mindscape Of Alan Moore.
