Amir's Portfolio environments. Thanks for the feedback guys, I do agree that the terrain looks rather random at the moment.

Amir's Portfolio environments

I'm trying out a different direction this time and probably something a bit more realistic as a goal for a portfolio scene. I'm going for a more stylised scene based on references such as Miazaki's art (studio ghibli). The goal is to make a cluster of floating islands with one or two houses plus some vegetation such as trees, ground plants and some ruins + scattered rocks. Regarding the texturing style, I will be learning how to make hand-painted stylised textures while doing the scene. Here are a few references that I'm currently using for the moment : As for the progress so far regarding the floating islands scene, here are a few screenshots set in chronological order : 1. 2. 3. 4. @Computron : I've been working on a personal project which was about making a game inspired by Shadow of the colossus/ICO. The Darkroom Blog by Really Japan - Part 3

He started spending some days and nights on the website Worth1000.com (there are many great tutorials and competition on photo manipulation in that website, give it a look) and learnt a lot from the other members. Anyway, his photoshop skills are great and his creative process pretty interesting.. just pity that his day job is software engineer so you can’t find many pics from him on the net (or twitter accounts, blogs, flickr and so on) I really like his photo manipulations, and you?

Abandoned Stuff

What is it about abandoned buildings that’s so alluring? What causes us to be fascinated by the deserted and forgotten ruins of structures that once teemed with life? It may have something to do with the original purpose of those buildings. Homes and towns where families once lived are fascinating, but there’s something tragic and amazing about hospitals, churches, hotels and asylums.
