http://chansiulun.com/journal/ Open Source fantastic. What's better than gaining software and functional libraries for free (as in beer). A lot of people the open source 'community' to reach where they are today because they have been able to experience functions and features for free (as in beer). Similarly, if you commission an open source software to be built. Not only are you standing on the shoulders of giants and able to build something for next to nothing (free as in beer). You are also (directly or indirectly) contributing back to the open source community who gave you all the basic features.
Despite my relative hopelessness when confronted with a musical instrument, I've been fascinated by music theory since middle school. The geometric relationships between tones, intervals, and the structure of waves made analytical sense to me, even if it didn't seem to apply very readily to 13 Songs or Loveless. In college I was blindsided by J.S. Bach whose work perfectly embodies this ‘music is math’ approach to composition. His fugues are both beautiful and dauntingly complex as they layer motif upon motif, building up to emergent juxtapositions you would never predict from the melody line alone. These sketches examine BWV 578: The ‘Little’ Fugue.

Wrapping your brain around data online can be challenging, especially when dealing with huge volumes of information. And trying to find related content can also be difficult, depending on what data you’re looking for. But data visualizations can make all of that much easier, allowing you to see the concepts that you’re learning about in a more interesting, and often more useful manner.
