ReadWriteWeb - Web Apps, Web Technology Trends, Social Networking and Social Media

After the Associated Press published an article on March 20th about employers asking job candidates for Facebook and social media passwords, the response was, to say the least, overwhelming. In the month since, there have been thousands of tweets and social media status updates, more than 2,000 blog posts, and hundreds of news articles on the "trend." Legislation was proposed in at least three states, and by April 9th, Maryland had hastily passed a bill. Even the federal government got involved, with Congressional committees planning hearings on the issue. For its part, Facebook reiterated its service terms, which prohibit members from sharing their passwords with anyone. There was, of course, only one problem: Outside of a handful of specific cases (one of which dated back to 2006), the AP article provided little evidence of the "trend." http://www.readwriteweb.com/

When I started to work as an SEO for an Australian-based SEO agency in early 2010, I never knew anything about the work (optimizing websites and building links to them) and definitely unsure of most of the things that I have worked on during that time. I got the hang of it after a couple of months, and I thought that I was doing great.
The Clip Report: An eBook on the Future of Media In the early 1990s when I began my career in PR there were clip reports. These were physical books that contained press clips. It seems downright archaic now but that’s how I learned about the press - by cutting, pasting up and photocopying clippings. My fascination with the media never abated. Today my role is to form insights into how the entire overlapped media landscape - the pros, social channels, and corporate content - is rapidly evolving and to help Edelman clients turn these learnings into actionable strategies.

In my last video post I spoke about the benefits of using talking head video posts on a blog . Today in this video I want to respond to many questions I get about the technical setup that I use for my videos here on ProBlogger. My set up is very basic (and I’m sure it can be improved), but the results seem to work well. http://www.problogger.net/

March 2012 is a big month for viral ideas that change the way people think about more than just LOLcats. Here are four that happened in the last week or two and each brings its own lessons: Marilyn Hagerty's review of the local Olive Garden was a huge Twitter sensation, an easy target for ironists in search of something to snark about. http://sethgodin.typepad.com/
