Elton John l’invite à faire sa première partie à l'opéra de Sydney; aux ARIA Awards, Gurrumul remporte le prix du "meilleur album indépendant"; et il remporte deux Limelight Awards; et 3 AIR (Australian Independent Record). En 2009, « Gurrumul » vient en France le 27 octobre[1].
