Adult ADHD and Support! I am only here today due of the support I received after my suicide attempt in 2011 after Adult ADHD was destroying my life!

Adult ADHD and Support!

– Jeff Emmerson By Jeff Emmerson OK – I’m truly only here due to the support I’ve received. Adult ADHD is no laughing matter, and I’m helping to raise awareness to the masses one day, one post at a time. I just did my first post for my column at EverydayHealth.com (an introduction of sorts), and once it’s edited, I’ll share the column with you. Why, indeed. God, what a tragedy when the easier thing to do is to self-medicate, slit your wrist, or do something else that’s totally destructive to your life! Support from my wife, my family and friends was instrumental in my survival.

Adult ADHD: No Easy Fix!

You must put in the work! By Jeff Emmerson OK – I just took that picture above a few minutes ago, and I have been waiting to address this topic for a few weeks now! May I remind you that this is my opinion, and only my opinion as a man who nearly lost his life due to Adult ADHD symptoms. Now then, here we go: I care about what causes ADHD! …because I am focused on REAL-world results that are working in my life, and in the lives of others. Police board approves new mental health crisis teams. The police services board has created new resources to deal with mental health crises in the city’s east end — an expansion in service prompting both praise and renewed criticism.

Police board approves new mental health crisis teams

The board approved a partnership between Toronto East General Hospital and the police service to create two mobile crisis intervention teams (MCITs), each made up of a police constable and mental health nurse in 54 and 55 divisions. The area covered stretches from Eglinton Ave. E. to the waterfront and from the Don River to Victoria Park Ave., and brings the number of police divisions with MCITs to 12 of 17. At the board meeting Thursday, former mayor John Sewell, of the Toronto Police Accountability Coalition, said he fully supports MCITs but would like to see their reach expanded.

MCITs currently respond to calls for what police call “emotionally disturbed persons,” but they are not primary responders. Sewell said he would like to see MCITs respond alongside primary response teams to help handle the call. Three Ways to Reduce Adult ADHD Stress! These are keys to relief from Adult ADHD symptoms!

What a number it did on his self-worth! By Jeff Emmerson Wow, is this topic ever bang-on for those of us with Adult ADHD/ADD! In fact, where would I even begin to describe the battle we face when it comes to accepting who we are, let alone loving ourselves? I’ll start at the beginning, or rather, my “new beginning.” Skipping ahead to now, I have been battling with self-acceptance all my life, I’m realizing. In this life, having ADHD/ADD is like looking through a different set of lenses at life – our view of the world is often and idealistic one, with potential everywhere around us just waiting to be taken advantage of in a wonderful way with our creative, outside the box minds.

. - I’m sure I’m not the only one who aches for this. It may never come, I may never be perfectly at peace (there’s that damn word “perfect” again), and I may continue to be my own worst critic, but I’m learning to let go more every day. Adult ADHD and Trauma: Lessons That Forever Change Us

Our baby girl Jazz was put to sleep today, and we are forever grateful for the gift of her in our lives! – Jeff Emmerson By Jeff Emmerson What a heart-wrenching couple of days it’s been – an extreme reminder of trauma, gratitude and the Adult ADHD mind (or anyone’s mind, of course!). We held our baby girl Jazz this morning as she was put to sleep, to move on to her next journey. As far as Adult ADHD goes, trauma is something we tend to be familiar with, just like those without the condition.

Aah, the piercing ache of “losing” a best friend, a loyal companion, someone who brought you so much joy day in and day out over the years is something only time can begin to heal. As gut-wrenching as trauma can be, we can walk away with a whole new appreciation for slowing down, letting go of the need to control everything, and truly living a life that’s so much more satisfying, precious, and not “thrown away” waiting for the next big goal to be achieved.
