So your mission is clear: master the shortcuts below to save humanity from the robots. A single shortcut can change the way you work for the better, so be sure to give our list a good look!

Note: Our picks pertain specifically to commands found in OS X El Capitan, but most of these shortcuts were introduced in earlier versions of OS X a long time ago. Another note: If you're using a Windows keyboard, substitute the Alt key for the Options key, and the Windows logo key for Command. 1. Stumble this post Check out these links where I party! TP Tube Wall Art. If you filed away the idea of making cardboard wall decor after seeing Suzy Myers' surprising faux iron scrollwork, now is probably the time to be saving up a supply of toilet paper tubes. I noticed a commercial for the Scott's Naturals tube-free variety a few nights ago, and realized cardboard rolls may soon be a thing of the past. The ad is a wonder of tp roll skyscrapers and such... wish I could share it with you here, but alas, no one has posted it on YouTube yet. (But it seems even tp rolls can stir up controversy, as you'll see in this video!)

Leaving that behind, I didn't have to look far to find lots of inspiring cardboard tube decorating ideas. Here's a terrific family tree idea and tutorial by a young mom who blogs from Alaska at No Dime Design. Inspired by an image in a Bed Bath and Beyond circular, she used paper towel/tp rolls to shape branches and leaves. From The How-To Gal, turquoise wall art that she rightly calls trash to treasure. DIY Ideas & Tutorials. Craft: Valentine's Day Wall Art. I loved how my Valentine's Day garland and wreath looked so I decided to make another Valentine's Day decoration. In our living room we have a big blank wall that is patiently waiting for us to finish the wall art we plan on hanging. I decided to use that space and try to make a simple, cheap wall art. Supplies: Card stock, pattern to print (I did sheet music), scissors, tapeCost: $0 (I already had all of the supplies) I started off by printing off sheet music. Then I found a heart shape that I liked (via google images).

I cut out the hearts by hand - I'm very jealous of people with cricuts or other similar machines that do it for you. :-) I had originally planned on just taping the hearts to the wall (I was going for very simple wall art) but decided it might look neat if the hearts stood a little bit off of the wall. Does that make sense? I printed the outline with the folding lines (light grey) onto card stock and cut them out. Then I taped them to the backs of the hearts.

All done! The Tale of the Three Brothers | when boredom strikes. So. Over the July 4th weekend I decided to embark on a new craft-like project. I’d always thought it would be cool to paint a chapter of a book on a wall, but never actually followed through with the vision. Untillllll I decided to ask my mom if she trusted me enough to paint the wall in the stairwell leading to the basement and she said YES.

I started drawing lines on July 4th and two weeks later, I had successfully painted the entire chapter of The Tale of the Three Brothers from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the wall, word for word. I completely guessed as to whether or not it would all fit, and miraculously it fit perfectly, all 20-something pages. I completely ruined my paintbrush, in the end, but I’d say it was worth it! I submitted this to craftgawker, my favorite website everrrr.

Never Lose Those Keys Again! That is right… I said it. Who knew key holders could be so functional. And so pretty! I needed these clever ideas about a week ago! I say a week ago… Because I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen my car keys =/ Do you lose yours too?? Start scrollin’ then! Fabric, Picture Frame, Fiberboard, Nail Hook, Label Frame. Love the hanging tags! Repurposing Silverware: I think this is my favorite!!! It’s a cloud, magnet AND key holder: This is so neat for the “bachelor” pad! Mason jar, Hook, Wood: Newspaper Flower. OK, I lied above! Even The Lover seen it and said “THAT’S FREAKIN SWEET” # kristanlynn xoxo. I try DIY: Friendship Bracelet Watch Strap. When I first saw THIS friendship bracelet watch on Urban Outfitters' site, I knew I had to have it. By that, it meant either having to buy it or make it. The tweet professing my love for this idea came months ago. I only got around to making it now.

This weekend, I suddenly remembered how I had a watch stashed away with the rest of my unused accessories. What you need: 1. How to do it (summarized): Disassemble the watch using your pliers. Start making your bracelet, making sure the width, length and hole placement match the old straps. I kept the V-shaped edge for the top strap. I glued and sewed the other edge of the straps to hold them in place. And here's the finished product! I didn't go into much detail in describing how I did this watch strap, only because you just might see the full how-to elsewhere. Edit 1/19/2012: Here's another watch I made for a photoshoot. :) DMC is located in SM Megamall, Building A, Ground Floor.
