Oliver + S. During Quiet Time. Notes from the Patch: Fabric. A few Facebook friends recently asked me to participate in a Valentine banner swap. I'd never done anything like that before but it sounded like fun, so what the heck? Our only instructions were to make the same one banner piece six times (one for each participating member). We were each assigned a letter and the banner pieces, when tied together, would spell "Be mine".

We were each to make our part of the banner 6" x 8.5" and we should use mainly pink and/or red. We could use paper or fabric or whatever we wanted. Give me paper, fabric, felt, a sewing machine, a hot glue gun and some doodads and I'm a happy camper. I was assigned the letter "m": You can get the pattern for my letter and the blue bird pattern here. The base of my banner is made from Pellon's Peltex - single sided fusible. I added grommets to each upper corner for attaching the ribbon, then glued a paper doiley on the banner like so. I folded both pieces individually like a paper fan, making the folds 1/2" wide.
