In India, Industrial Designs are protected under the Design Act, 2000 which has replaced the Design Act, 1911. India being a member of WTO is under TRIPS, obliged to maintain a minimum standard of protection. Under TRIPS, intellectual property protection also extends to traditional IPRs such as patents, trademarks and copyright. Intellectual Property Right refers to the right over the intellectual activity in the industrial, scientific, literary or artistic fields.
