How to ask a question in a quiz on Kahoot! Kahoot! is a really flexible platform where it’s entirely up to you how you ask a question in a game. You are the game designer! Last week, I wrote about the importance of coming up with the right questions and answers in your learning game. The Maze Hundreds Chart - Steve Wyborney's Blog: I'm on a Learning Mission. The Maze Hundreds Chart is a resource that is surprisingly powerful and leads to some very unexpected learning opportunities. Much like The Animated Multiplication Table, this is a free, downloadable resource that will cause you to see an old, familiar chart in some new and surprising ways. Watch the video, download the interactive resource, and then take a look at the next blog post which will feature a variety of types of questions which you may never have been able to ask your students before seeing this resource. NOTE: Because this is a triggered PowerPoint document, it will need to be played in PowerPoint in order to have the interactivity shown in the video.
4 Free and Easy Audio Recording Tools for Google Slides The ability to add audio to Google Slides has been one of the most requested features for many years. Being creative, we have worked around this limitation in the past by embedding YouTube videos in Slides, or using a tool like Screencastify to record a video of the Slides while speaking. Although those workarounds still have their place, it is wonderful that we finally have the option to add audio directly to a slide! Note: This feature is still rolling out to all Google accounts, so if you do not see it in your account yet, you should see it soon! Being able to add audio to Google Slides can be used in so many ways in school: Narrating a slideshowReading a storyMaking an instructional presentationProviding spoken feedback on writingHaving student explain a solutionGiving directions for a HyperSlides projectAnd much more!
Creative Commons Many fantastic CC record labels already release and curate free music, making my job of creating an end-of-year list easy. I also browsed various CC music communities to end up with the following, somewhat eclectic, mix. If you're a west coast transplant like myself, this might be perfect for the east-to-west cross country flight home for the holidaze. It's definitely not exhaustive, so enjoy, but be sure to check out all the other great artists and tracks on FMA.

As more schools bring tablets into the classroom, educators like Genia Connell are finding that apps are game changers. “I have yet to see anything in education that generates excitement and motivates students the way tablets do,” says the third-grade teacher from Leonard Elementary School in Troy, Michigan. Connell points to e-reading apps like Storia that not only engage students but also level the playing field for struggling readers. “Differentiation has become easier with apps because so many of them have built-in levels of complexity.”
Traffic Lights This month's new game was designed to be just about the most accessible game imaginable. I wanted a game which could be explained in a few seconds, and which would take less than five minutes to play. There was a further requirement that it should not require any fancy equipment. Finally, of course, it should be non-trivial to play. I hope you'll agree Traffic Lights meets all these requirements. It's been used with children as young as six or seven, and yet computer analysis has shown there's no obvious winning strategy.
