Perhaps one of the main reasons for this is that many people see them as a form of barcode and wrongly believe that they can only be produced by companies, but the reality is anyone can produce a QR code within seconds. QR literally stands for 'quick response' and it enables you to transfer various types of digital content onto a mobile device in seconds without having to type any URLs. What does your ideal classroom look like? – Katie Martin What does your ideal classroom look like? I asked a district leader a while back what his ideal classroom looked like and he responded, “It’s hard to put my finger on it but I know it when I see it.” This response is more common than not. Think about that for a minute. If you are a teacher in the school and your administrator can’t articulate what the desired teaching and learning looks like, how are you supposed to meet those expectations? At the same time if a teacher knows a better way to meet the needs of learners in their classrooms and doesn’t share their ideas or try something new because they assume they aren’t allowed, there may be great learning opportunities missed. Web we want About the Web We Want For many young people in the early 21st century, their online personality, social interactions and activities are as important as their life in the physical world. Teachers, therefore, need to recognize this and help young people make the most of the opportunities online technologies and social media offer to develop key competences – and, crucially, become reflective and responsible citizens.

Our Space: Being a Responsible Citizen of the Digital World For most young people today, engagement with new digital media is a routine aspect of life. Through computers, mobile phones, and other handheld devices, youth can blog, tweet, participate in social networks like Facebook, play massive multi-player games, use online information sources, and share videos, stories, music, and art they’ve created. Important skills and knowledge can be gained from such activities, but there are also risks. For example, young people may only rarely consider what it means to be an ethical, socially responsible “citizen” on the Internet. Our Space is a set of curricular materials designed to encourage high school students to reflect on the ethical dimensions of their participation in new media environments. Through role-playing activities and reflective exercises, students are asked to consider the ethical responsibilities of other people, and whether and how they behave ethically themselves online.
