The aim of these regular meet-ups is to create a physical space for game scholars and excellent students to present research, to provide room for game-related discussions, and to expand our academic and professional network. This meeting, we will share three game-related projects from Utrecht University dealing with: the politics of playful cartography, identity and identity in digital games, and intergenerational game design. Afetam 4,0 written by jeroen clarysse Our reseach centre previously used many applications (like inquisit, matlab and e-prime) and custom-programmed C and Pascal applications, but none of these was flexible and powerfull enough for the advanced balanced semi-randomisations that we needed. Finally we decided to build a new application tailored to our needs : affect. These concepts make up the core of affect : stimulus stimuluspool trial trialpool trialflow response filler experiment but before we go into details about these, we have to explain some basic terminology : author = you, the person making an experiment with affect subject = the person undergoing your experiment labmaster = a labmaster DMA or DPCI card as sold by scientific solutions external port = parallel port or gameport on your audio-card stimulus A stimulus means anything presented to the subject. stimulus pool What if you don't have one or two stimuli to present, but a few hundred ? trials trialpools stimuluspools revisited trialflows

The Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies About the Collection This is a collection of bibliographies of scientific literature in computer science from various sources, covering most aspects of computer science. The bibliographies are updated weekly from their original locations such that you'll always find the most recent versions here. The collection currently contains more than 3 millions of references (mostly to journal articles, conference papers and technical reports), clustered in about 1500 bibliographies, and consists of more than 2.3 GBytes (530MB gzipped) of BibTeX entries. More than 1 million of references contain URLs to an online version of the paper. For more information on the contents of this collection have a look at the bibliographic statistics. Search for publications in the bibliography collection Since the bibliographies are not just referenced by links, but actually mirrored and present as a local copy, they are searchable. Bibliographies The bibliographies have been categorized hierarchically. Comments

The Ten Most Revealing Psych Experiments Psychology is the study of the human mind and mental processes in relation to human behaviors - human nature. Due to its subject matter, psychology is not considered a 'hard' science, even though psychologists do experiment and publish their findings in respected journals. Some of the experiments psychologists have conducted over the years reveal things about the way we humans think and behave that we might not want to embrace, but which can at least help keep us humble. That's something. 1. The Robbers Cave Experiment is a classic social psychology experiment conducted with two groups of 11-year old boys at a state park in Oklahoma, and demonstrates just how easily an exclusive group identity is adopted and how quickly the group can degenerate into prejudice and antagonism toward outsiders. Researcher Muzafer Sherif actually conducted a series of 3 experiments. 2. The prisoners rebelled on the second day, and the reaction of the guards was swift and brutal. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

About TGA | The Geek Anthropologist An Anthropological Approach to geek culture, for science! The Geek Anthropologist is a blog where geek culture and all things geek are analysed through the perspective of socio-cultural anthropology. We write about the intersections between social science, cultural analysis and practice of anthropology with geek culture, whether they be embodied, literary, cinematic or cybernetic. In short, we’re interested in any culturally informed analysis of geek culture or things that geeks love. The ideas and opinions expressed by the authors of The Geek Anthropologists are their own. Who are we? The editorial team behind TGA is composed of graduate students of socio-cultural anthropology. What do we mean by ”geek”? Well, we all mean something a little different, and part of what we do on the blog is try to figure out what different definitions of geek culture are out there. We may like science-fiction, but we are not drones. Do you wish to contribute to TGA? About Adds and Sponsored Posts Copyright
