Two realities of one and the same event are presented. In this 'horse choreography' seven horses with blankets which are labelled upside down with the words: LOS (lottery ticket/ go); HABEN (have) and OHNE (without) execute six different word combinations in 19 images.
These unpretentious words assume existential meanings and, in addition, through their various positioning, provoke a great variety of feelings. Upon quick glance, it's easy to believe that these landscapes are constructed of natural landforms including hills, cliffs, valleys, and mountains. However, upon closer inspection, the true nature of each human shape is revealed. Created by London-based photographer Carl Warner, Bodyscapes is a creative project featuring this new and unconventional style that blends portraits with landscapes.
The series is a strikingly sensual collection of lines and curves that merge naturally together into the abstract forms. In each image, there is an almost instant desire to distinguish separate body parts within the blur of limbs. Warner reveals pieces of the puzzle to his viewers by using titles like Shoulder Hill Valley , Pectoral Dunes , and Desert of Backs . The photographer, who typically works with food as his medium , describes this new project as "an alternative portrait of a human being whose body becomes a landscape of themselves and plays on the sense of space in which we dwell. The program offers full and partial residential fellowships for a minimum of one month and up to twelve months. The number of awards and the amount may vary depending on sponsorship available at the time of application. The artists-in-residence are offered a workspace that range in size from 200sq. ft. to 400sq. ft. with Wi-Fi connections and 24/7 access. The workspaces are located within one of the four NARS Studios, which house over 80 artist studios, located in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn.
