Caulfield village. Holiday Entertaining: Heavenly Holiday Desserts - Martha Stewart. Salted Pistachio Brittle (Better Than Christmas Cookies!) Holiday Guest Post from Kristin Silverman of The Kitchen Sink | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn. Previous image Next image I was raised to always be a polite guest, but I'm going to start this guest post out on a note that could ruffle some feathers. I'm a mug of spiked hot mulled cider in and I'm feeling a little daring, so here goes nothing: I don't much like Christmas cookies.

Blasphemous, I know. Especially for a food blogger. Writing a holiday guest post. In my defense, I do love the ritual of making Christmas cookies. By this time, I've had just about enough of Christmas cookies, so I slip the cookies into glassine bags or tuck them into tin canisters. Of course, this leaves me Christmas-cookied-out at the exact moment that Christmas arrives. At my parents' house during the holidays, I can always rest assured that a little bowl full of my grandpa's peanut brittle will sit alongside the plates of cookies. As luck would have it, the brittle is just as fun to make as the cookies (and a nice break from the oven-to-cooling-rack merry-go-round). It is no secret that I have an obsession with Chinese cuisine. The place that started it all was a local Chinese buffet here in Michigan. After frequent visits to the buffet over the years, I finally decided to take a stab at cooking my own Chinese dishes at home. The majority of the dishes were delicious and I began cooking different Chinese meals every week, but I had always wanted more variety just like the buffet.

I had always wondered, “what if I could create a Chinese buffet at home?” I have wanted to do this for along time so I was very excited when I was chosen to be part of the 24,24,24 event presented by Foodbuzz. In this article I will explain how to create your own Chinese buffet at home. The Brownie That Will Change Your Life - StumbleUpon. Let me start off by saying that viewer discretion is advised for today’s post. OK now with the story that preludes possibly the greatest brownie I have ever sunk my teeth in thus far in my life. Last Saturday Mrs. Zesty had a baby shower to attend and she was designated for a dessert/sweet treat for the girls. Last week was a bit of a zoo and I think I forgot about prepping this dessert until Friday afternoon at work.

After work I did a quick scan for some ideas and came up with a chocolate caramel brownie. I figured that would be a hit with a “bunch” of girls. I knew time was tight and I didn’t want to spend all night Friday night to prep a dessert. This recipe, I cannot take any credit for and nor will I try as it is compliments of Nestle Toll House and as you can see from the reviews…. Ingredients Method Preheat oven to 350° F.Combine cake mix and nuts in large bowl. Drop remaining batter by heaping teaspoon over caramel mixture. Thanks zesty. Cruft: Lasagna Cupcakes. When Intelligentsia Coffee opened in Pasadena recently, I was intrigued the lasagna cupcakes they served. The cupcakes are made by Heirloom LA, a catering business.

About the size of a muffin, a single lasagna cupcake was a delicious meal. After seeing how much my daughter enjoyed them (she ate my entire cupcake and I had to order a second one), I decided I had to try making them at home. After a bit of research, here is my method. The girls love them and take them to school as lunch. The ingredients are fairly simple. Mozzarella, Ricotta, and Parmesan cheese, marinara sauce, meat (if you so desire), and wonton/gyoza wrappers. Spray or wipe the cupcake tin with olive oil for prevent sticking and add a little flavor. Once you filled in the first layer, gently press another wrapper in, forming another cup.

Once you've placed the second wrapper, repeat the filling as you see fit. A bit of Mozzarella cheese on top of it all. The small cupcake size works well for us.
