For the greater part of the past century, pacifism has occupied a marginal place in international relations scholarship, politics, activism, media, and the wider society. Pacifism is rarely used as the basis for normative theorising about the use of force, and is rarely drawn upon as an important source for thinking about resistance, revolution, security, counterterrorism, peacebuilding, national defence planning, humanitarian intervention, political institutions, and the like. . ^ Top of Page. Learning to Scale Up Restorative Justice. Kerry Clamp’s final chapter of her new volume, Restorative Justice in Transitional Settings , is about a transformative vision for restorative justice as a response to mass victimisation.
One way I have argued for transitional justice to become more transformative is for it to become less transitional. In her recent writing, Kerry Clamp has also questioned quick closure as a transitional justice objective. Accord Insight 3 reconciliation WEB 1.

Via the Collective Project, students around the US, and eventually the world, are encouraged to think outside the box and dream up new devices, new projects and new approaches to help their community. Microsoft then helps them with software and guidance to make their projects happen. In the hours after a disaster, when information is scarce and services stretched thin, families and neighbors quickly band together to help those in need.
FEMA's Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) provide vital information and services to get locals through a disaster, but they are established only when federal aid is deployed -- often days or weeks after an event. To bridge this gap between community response and government action, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and frog partnered to rethink the mechanics of formal disaster response by building on the natural human instinct to help. Frog delivered a playbook that describes how a community-run DRC can be staged and deployed before FEMA's arrives on the scene.

Opening up the Open Data Movement. In the past year I have been attending a lot of conferences on Open Data and had several discussions with people, from the World Bank to the United Nations, on the IATI standard and how Open Data is (or not) impacting the development and aid work.
From the Open Knowledge Conference in Geneva, to the UN Transparency Working Group in New York, the issues that development and aid organizations, as well as governments worldwide are struggling with and trying very hard to solve, are not only related on how you open up data and make it available, but how you move from Open Data to transparency and accountability.
As I have mentioned in a lot of presentations the issue for me lies fundamentally under two main paradox: one is the intrinsic understanding from a lot of people in the Open Data movement that Open also means transparent and accountable; the second one is that if transparency and accountability are the goals of Open Data, than there is an unanswered question: which is to whom?
