yes, i know both of this librarys, and learned a lot from them. one (shiffmans) is just for mac (since im using windows, i couldnt test/use it) , and the other windows library (CLNUI) is based on Code-Laboratories Driver,... which doesnt work proper on XP (at least i had big problems with the newest version, and CL doesnt seem to work on it to solve this issue),... and there is no IR-Image support from the CL-Driver, and some other stuff differs to the openkinects-driver.
